That’s a wrap for my first competition!🥉
To make a long story short, I took a deer that I never planned on competing with, finished it the DAY OF the competition, and to top it off I ended up competing in a more advanced category than initially planned. 😅 Needless to say, I am blessed to have received a 3rd place ribbon in the professional division despite all of the odds that I put against myself!
In the more advanced division you are judged a little more harshly but the main perk is the feedback you get from the judge on how to fix your mistakes and can use that to learn and advance your work.
Everyone has something they need to improve on and that’s the beauty of this art form. I am happy I am continuing to grow my knowledge from such an early point in this career. The way I see it, if I am able to score this well on a spur of the moment deer, that I knew had it issues, then I can only imagine what I would score with a mount that I am more proud of. So next time I’ll try to be a little more prepared😅..
Until next year!
