Leia is around a year old and the shelter has been a very scary place for her. She came from a backyard breeding situation where life clearly didn’t offer her much comfort or stability, so all the noise and constant activity here can feel overwhelming for this sweet girl. Despite that, there is something incredibly gentle about her. She wants to trust, you can see it in the way she quietly watches from the corner of her kennel and cautiously leans in when she realizes someone is being kind.
Leia does well with other friendly dogs and would likely blossom much faster in a calm, patient foster home where she can finally exhale a little before welcoming her puppies into the world. Because she’s so anxious right now, we think she’d do best in a home without young children and with people who understand that scared dogs sometimes just need time, softness, and consistency.
We know pregnant fosters can feel intimidating, but Heart of RI will provide support along the way, and there is truly nothing more rewarding than watching a frightened mama realize she’s finally safe. Right now, Leia doesn’t need perfection. She just needs someone willing to give her a quiet place to land. PLEASE SHARE and help us get this sweet girl into a home as soon as possible.❤️
