Sauk County Humane Society

Remi might not know much about football, but she knows good news when she hears it! 🏈🐾

We're excited to share that Sauk County Humane Society has received a grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation!

This funding will go toward our Spay/Neuter Clinic, helping us continue providing an important service that makes a real difference for animals in our community. Spaying and neutering not only helps prevent unwanted litters, but also plays a big role in reducing the number of homeless animals who end up in shelters.

We're incredibly grateful to be chosen as a 2026 grant recipient. Thank you, Green Bay Packers Foundation, for giving Wisconsin's shelter animals something to cheer about! 💚💛

Do you want to help make a difference? We need an extra set of hands in our spay/neuter clinic! 🐾

We're looking for a volunteer to help sanitize instruments used during our weekly spay/neuter clinics. No experience necessary. Once you've completed our volunteer orientation, we'll provide all the training you need.

We're looking for someone who can commit to either Tuesdays OR Thursdays (not both) from 9:30 AM to approximately 3:00–4:00 PM.

This week's SCHS Pets of the Week are Grace and Gabby! To make an appointment to meet them, call us at 608-356-2520.

Grace is a beautiful 2-year-old Heeler mix with plenty of energy and a whole lot of love to give! At 42 pounds, she's a friendly, playful girl who loves giving kisses and staying busy. Grace would be a great match for an active family who enjoys walks, hikes, and plenty of outdoor fun. She's a smart girl who already knows sit and stay, walks nicely on a leash, and is eager to learn more. Grace can get a little jumpy when she's excited, so a home with older kids would be best. She needs a cat-free home but could enjoy having a playful, easygoing dog buddy after a proper introduction. With a little patience and continued training, Grace will make a wonderful adventure partner and cuddle buddy! She is up to date on her vaccinations and will be spayed prior to adoption.

Gabby is a 1-year-old Siamese mix who came to the shelter from an unwanted litter, and this girl has enough personality to keep things interesting! She's outgoing, super friendly, and seems to be in a good mood no matter what's going on around her. Gabby is easy to pick up, comfortable being carried, and loves spending time with people, especially when there's an open lap available. She's also got a playful side and enjoys chasing around toy balls and batting at dangly toys. When she's finished playing, she's happy to settle in for some pets and quality cuddle time. Gabby has a nice independent streak too, so she's perfectly content finding ways to entertain herself between visits with her favorite humans. Sweet, social, playful, and full of charm, Gabby is a happy little girl who has a lot to offer her future family. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.

🐾🩶 ADOPTION UPDATE 🩶🐾

"Hi guys, We were just cuddling with River and it occurred to us that we hadn’t sent you an update on him in a while.

He’s doing great, and has been such a joy! Deb and I are both fully retired now, so there’s more time to make sure he gets several walks and lots of attention every day! He just turned 7 at the beginning of August, and is aging into his “old man” personality that he’s had since we first met.

Anyway, we just wanted to thank you again for allowing us this incredible addition to our family!"

Send your SCHS adoption updates to [email protected] (Facebook doesn't always notify us when you post your updates on Facebook) and we'll feature it on our Facebook and Instagram page!

This week's SCHS Pets of the Week are Luna and Hurshey! To make an appointment to meet them, call us at 608-356-2520.

Luna is a beautiful 3-year-old Husky/Heeler mix with a whole lot of personality packed into her 32-pound frame! She came to SCHS as a stray and is ready to find an active family who can keep up with her playful, energetic spirit. Luna loves to run, play, and stay busy, so plenty of exercise, fun toys, and a fenced yard would be right up her alley. She's a smart girl who already knows come, sit, and lie down, and she keeps her kennel nice and clean. Luna would do best with older kids who can handle her enthusiasm. She needs a cat-free home and can be picky about her dog friends, so introductions are important. With her gorgeous fluffy coat and fun-loving personality, Luna is ready for her next adventure! She is up to date on her vaccinations and will be spayed prior to adoption.

Hurshey is a 2-year-old bunny who came to the shelter after her owner's health made it difficult to continue caring for her. This sweet girl is looking for a new place to call home, and we're hoping someone will give her the chance to settle in and enjoy the good life. At 2 years old, Hurshey is still a young rabbit with plenty of time for hopping around, exploring, and getting into a little bunny mischief. Rabbits can be wonderful companions, each with their own unique personality, and Hurshey deserves a family who will enjoy getting to know hers. With a comfortable space to call her own, plenty of enrichment, and some patience as she adjusts to a new routine, Hurshey could make a lovely addition to a rabbit-loving home. She's ready for her next chapter, and we're hoping it includes lots of love, fresh veggies, and plenty of room to hop! She is up to date on her vaccinations and will be spayed prior to adoption.
