❤️ If You Give a Farm Mom a Minute
If you give a farm mom a minute,
she’ll probably reach for her coffee.
But before she takes a sip,
she’ll hear the side door slam...
and someone will be yelling
that the dog drug off a boot.
She’ll head to the yard,
find the boot in the mud,
and notice the chickens are in the garden again.
She’ll chase them out,
see the empty water trough,
and grab the hose to fill it.
While the trough is filling,
she’ll remember she never switched the laundry.
When she steps inside,
there’s a trail of barn dirt through the kitchen,
a math worksheet stuck to the fridge with jelly,
and a sink full of cups,
because no one ever uses just one.
She’ll start the washer,
but then she’ll hear the tractor sputter...
the one her husband swore he’d fix last week.
She’ll wander out to see what he's doing,
get sidetracked pulling a few weeds from the flower bed,
and end up helping a calf out of the fence.
By the time she sits back down,
her coffee is ice cold,
her list is twice as long,
and that “minute” she asked for
is gone like daylight in December.
And just when she thinks the day has finally slowed,
she’ll step outside and hears it...
the steady splash of water hitting dirt.
The trough she started hours ago
is now an overflowing pond.
Her hand are now muddy,
her boots are soaked,
but she laughs anyway.
Because this is her life.
Messy.
Chaotic.
And she wouldn't trade it fpr the world!
