Remember this pretty girl? Stella was adopted by Kip from Friends of Anne Arundel County after she came to YNWA for a dental and ear polyp removal. Once the polyp was removed, a biopsy revealed that Stella was suffering from squamous cell cancer. Stella has always been a sweet girl, but it was evident that she was uncomfortable and not enjoying her life at YNWA to the fullest. On December 28th 2020, Kip performed a total ear ablation on Stella. He removed her ear, along with the cancer that had spread to her lymph node. Following the surgery, Stella’s temperament and personality changed for the better. She no longer made herself scarce around the hospital. Instead, she now constantly begs for pets and treats and wants nothing more than to be around her people.
These kinds of surgeries are most often performed by board certified surgical specialists who complete an additional three year residency program after veterinary school and have the acronym DACVS after their name. This is the BEST option for those who can afford it. For those that can’t afford it, Kip can do an okay job too! Just ask Stella!
