Charm City Companions is a human-animal support program, designed to extend animal care resources and information to pet owners who have limited access to those services. CCC is committed to overcoming barriers and problem-solving to achieve community-level wellness for all Baltimore City households with pets. CCC approaches people with respect and accepts that most people love their pets, regardl

ess of socioeconomic status or variations in culture. Our work is designed to elevate both human and animal clients. We meet people where they are and work to establish trust, thereby creating a ripple effect in the community for long-term impact.

Diamond belongs to a pet family that lived in Perkins pre-demo and reconstruction. She was able to move back in a few years later once everything was ready.

We worked hard to help pet families through this transition. We worked with Urban Strategies, a non-profit hired by HABC, to help residents find housing that would accept pets and assisted in getting necessary vaccines and spay neuter.

We’ve kept in touch with as many of our Perkins families as possible. Diamond is just one of the many that are back “home” and feeling pretty!

Earlier this month we lost one of our OG pets, Bentley. We are so sad to lose this little guy so unexpectedly. We wish the Canady family all the peace needed during this sad time.

We first met the Canady family in 2014 when we started this work. We were knocking on doors in McElderry Park when Bentley came out on his porch and let us know who was boss of the block!

Since then we have partnered with Melissa and McElderry Park Community Association Inc. to bring services to pet families in East Baltimore through door-to-door efforts, as well as community pop-up events where we partner with BARCS and bring free vet services to the community.

Please take a moment of silence for Bentley! He will be very missed by his family and the McElderry Park community.
