The Maryland SPCA adopts out more than 3,000 needy and unwanted pets each year. There is no time limit for an animal to stay in our care until they're adopted. Our staff and volunteers provide excellent care to the dogs and cats. Each pet receives medical care including neuter surgery, vaccinations, treatments, as well as TLC. Enrichment is also provided so that the animals have positive activitie

s to reduce stress. Our state-of-the art adoption center provides warmth and comfort while the pets await new homes. Our Spay and Neuter Clinic performs approximately 9,000 surgeries each year, making the Maryland SPCA the state leader in providing this crucial life-saving service. The Maryland SPCA also acts as a referral resource for residents throughout Maryland searching for neuter services. Surgeries are provided to animals in our adoption program, other shelters and rescue groups, low-income pet owners, and feral cats all with the aim to reduce pet overpopulation in our community. In addition to our adoption and spay/neuter services, we also transport pets in need from other area shelters. Each year, we bring in more than 1,300 animals from other shelters to help save more lives in the community. Other lifesaving programs include a foster program that cares for young and injured pets who need time to grow and heal in a home setting. Our Wellness Clinic provides care for over 5,000 pets in the community every year. Training classes are offered to help keep pets in homes and out of shelters. Volunteers and staff also visit area schools each year to teach kindness to animals to children. Thanks to the support of the community, we are able to provide these programs that help pets and people and save animals’ lives.

WE DID IT! 🎉 3,008 animals were adopted across shelters in Maryland during the month of August. The Maryland SPCA adopted out 191 cats and 81 dogs and have 32 more pets on hold who will go home after their spay or neuter surgeries! Thank you to all of the adopters who opened up their homes to shelter pets, donors who sponsored-a-snoot, our community for helping spread the word, & Clear the Shelters. 🫶

Today is the last day of the Maryland 3000! That means fees are waived for all pets TODAY ONLY! Can you help spread the word about these pups that desperately need a home?

First up is Charity! She’s been in and out of the shelter system for most of her life 🥺 Despite this, she’s still affectionate, energetic and loves people!

Next is Lady Miss Kier 💅 This pretty lady has been with us since Dec 2025! She’s a friendly socialite who does well with cars, kids and with other dogs!

Last is our dynamic duo Rueben on Rye & Enzo! 🤩 They’re super sweet but do not like the shelter environment 😔 They would do best with a calm, quiet environment where they can blossom at their own pace.

Can’t adopt? Please share this post and Sponsor-A-Snoot at www.mdspca.org/md3k!

Zeus is a big, goofy boy with a heart of gold 💛 He loves people, and will always warm right up to you begging for scritches 💓 He’s well trained, knows commands, does great in the car and loves to go on adventures! If Zeus seems like the right fit for you, come in today to say hi! 👋

It’s the last few days of the Maryland 3000! That means that adoption FEES ARE WAIVED through Aug. 31‼️ Today we’re spotlighting three kitties currently in foster care. Let’s help them find a loving home! 😊

First up is Goose! 🖤10 years old🤍This lovely tuxedo has been with us since January! Goose is calm, confident and super sweet. She's happiest hanging on the couch while you watch TV - especially bird videos 🕊️ - or playing with a wand toy!

Next is Willie! 🩶13 years old🤍 This gray and white senior gentleman prefers a calm, predictable home where he can relax and nap the days away💤 . When he’s in the mood he’ll seek you out for attention or treats. Willie doesn’t like strangers or dogs, and would do best with older children who understand his independent nature.

Last is Abby Cabby! 🧡10 years old🖤 This pretty lady has been with us since March! Abby Cabby adores being brushed, loves cheek scratches, and will nap on your lap! She doesn’t like other pets but will warm up to kids!

If you’re interested in any of these pets or would like to support please visit www.mdpsca.org/md3k.

Wyck is a special girl who has been in the shelter system for OVER A YEAR ‼️ She can be super sweet, but has been known to give you a love nip when she becomes overstimulated. One particular way she loves receiving attention is being brushed with a long shower brush! Wyck would do best with adults or older children in a quiet house where she can be in charge and get the love she deserves on her own terms. 💕

Thank you to PEDIGREE Foundation and Humane World for Animals for granting Maryland SPCA $20k to support access to care in our community! This funding will allow us to provide adoptions, fostering, lost pet reunification, and pet food at no cost to pets and their families in Baltimore.
