It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Erdman Animal Hospital will be closing.

This decision has not been made lightly. After 38 years of caring for your beloved pets and serving this community, the demands of running a three-doctor practice and keeping up with the needs of our patients and clients have become significant. Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to find a permanent replacement, as the veterinary field has changed considerably in recent years.

Caring for your animals has been an incredibly meaningful part of my life, and I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me over the years. However, I have reached a point where I must prioritize my quality of life, my health and begin a new chapter.

Our final day of operation will be May 28th. If you would like a digital copy of your pet’s medical records, please email us at [email protected].

We are sorry to announce that Dr Muhib will be taking a full-time position closer to his home outside DC, we will announce his location when it is known. This will leave Dr Lance Keil and Dr William Wu to care for the existing patients. We therefore find it necessary not to take any new clients.
We can only wish Dr Muhib good luck for everyone must find his own road in this life. I apologize for the difficulty it will cause some people but it is necessary.

Surgery of the night. Dana and I just removed this infected uterus from a 31 lb pit. It was 14.2 percent of its body weight! It might be a record for me.

Surgery of the month: this little Yorkie had a puppy stuck in her va**na on the weekend. Taken to a emergency hospital where they recommended humane euthanasia (rightly so) because her va**na and surrounding skin was necrotic, dieing tissue.
Well, she was a fighter and after sloughing the dieing tissue was brought to me for a opinion on reconstruction.
The photos speak for themselves. These kind of surgeries are very challenging, the outcome is never guaranteed and sometimes require multiple surgeries. The sicker the patient the more likely a poor outcome, I was lucky in this case and a healthy happy little dog has a new lease on life.
