In honor of National Veterinary Technician Week, we couldn’t resist snapping a picture with a beloved RVT, Stephanie! 🐾💜

If your pet had an anesthetic procedure (especially orthopedic and specialty surgery) in the 2010s, chances are Stephanie played a major role in keeping your loved ones safe! We are lucky to still work alongside her on an almost weekly basis as she provides ultrasonography scans for our patients.

There are many avenues RVTs can specialize and earn advanced training and certification. PHAH’s RVT Katie is certified in hospice and palliative care, RVT Abby is RECOVER certified and has a strong interest in anesthesia and analgesia, and RVT Michelle has advanced training in dental specialty, instructing DVMs and technicians at the Animal Dental Training Center.

Happy National Veterinary Technician Week!

This week we pause to recognize and celebrate our team of skilled and compassionate women who are an integral part of this hospital. When your pet is feeling sick, feeling scared, about to have surgery, waking up from surgery, in need of trained and safe hands to provide care - this is the team you want in your corner. They take care of each other, our CSRs, our doctors, and our patients like family, because we are all PHAHmily here. With 5 of them having walked these halls and loved your pets for more than 9 years, these technicians are the backbone of our hospital!

This week we thank them and celebrate their dedication, their heart, and their unwavering commitment to caring for animals! 🐈🐾 💖🐕

Spooky season is upon us and the perfect time to shine a spotlight on black cats! 🐈‍⬛ Did you know that the month of October has been designated as the time to highlight black cats with the aim of raising awareness and giving them loving homes! 🐾 Sadly, black cats have been surrounded by harmful myths and superstitions that often result in them being overlooked and taking much longer to be adopted. This month we're celebrating these goofy, loving, loyal little voids. 🖤 Did you know that Dr. Breidenbaugh has her own little clowder of 5 black cats? Here she is pictured snuggling 1 of them! Snoop is just snoopin' by to say "hi"! 👋 This handsome little guy was recently adopted from Baltimore County Animal Services and had his first puppy wellness today with Dr. Eden and RVT's Katie and Abby! 🩺 Snoop was sure to give allllll the puppy kisses and decided personal space was overrated because being as close as physically possible was non-negotiable! 🐶🥰

Wrinkles, wiggles, and wags galore!! Today George came in for his very first puppy wellness visit with Dr. Rieckert and RVT Katie! 🤩 This little ball of energy was VERY excited to meet all of his new friends here that he just couldn't contain it! ⚡️ He was rocking, rolling, and full body wiggling from person to person demanding constant love and attention - which of course we obliged! 🥰

**📣 UPDATE 10/9: THANK YOU for all of the generous donations! We are now fully stocked on towels and wash cloths! If you still have some that you were planning on donating, please forward donations to your local shelter or rescue! **

🐾 We’re in need of towel donations! 🐾

Our hospital is currently in need of donations of wash cloths and regular-sized fluffy bath towels to help keep our patients comfortable and our hospital running smoothly.

If you have gently used wash cloths or towels at home that you no longer need, we would greatly appreciate them! ❤️

🚨 A friendly note: We are NOT in need of hand towels, sheets or blankets - especially items with holes, loose threads, or significant damage. These can pose a safety hazard to our patients and are not safe for use in the hospital.

Join us in wishing our patient Scarlett a HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY! 🥳🎂 Scarlett is a bluetick coonhound originally from Erie, Pennsylvania that we have had the pleasure of watching grow up since she was a (not so little) baby. This energetic girl loves to wrestle with her big sister Willeaux, getting zoomies in the snow, and trying to run with tree limbs 3x her size! Scarlett's dad loves her endlessly and says she brings some much need liveliness to their home and he wouldn't have it any other way! 🥰
