If she’s looking a little groggy, it’s the pain meds….. 😊. But we’re happy to say Lady’s surgery went well and she’s at home now with her foster Mom!

She’ll need a couple weeks of rest and recuperation before going back for the stitches removal and we hope in a few few days we’ll have the results of the biopsies. 🙏

It’s Friday! Time for another Follow up Friday!

Shadow’s family let us know she is growing up and doing wonderfully! Her family has been dedicated to keeping this smart girl active and engaged with day boarding, training sessions, adventures to local parks, and plenty of fun with her herding ball.

As she matures, Shadow continues to impress her trainer, who describes her as a high drive, working line Shepherd. And a DNA test confirmed it - Shadow is a fourth generation German Shepherd!

We love seeing this beautiful girl learning, growing, and enjoying life with a family so committed to helping her shine. Happy Follow up Friday, Shadow!

Is your dog vaccinated against Lepto ?

Leptosporosis can be a very serious illness. Here's some information on what animals are affected (ie, dogs!!), what the symptoms are, and how to avoid it (don't let the pet drink stagnant pools of water, especially). There is a vaccine your vet can give to help reduce the likelihood of contracting it and transmitting it. Hint: when the symptom says yellow urine, they mean REALLY YELLOW.

Send Some Love to Lady Today!

Today is a big day for our sweet Lady. She is undergoing surgery to remove several masses, and we’re hoping everyone will keep this special girl in their thoughts as she takes this important step.

Lady has so many people rooting for her, and today we’re sending her all the love, good thoughts, and wishes for an uneventful surgery and an easy, comfortable recovery.

She may not understand why today looks a little different or why everyone is making such a fuss over her, but she does know that she is loved. And when she wakes up, there will be plenty of people ready to remind her just how brave she was. Also sending a special shout out to her wonderful foster mom - we know she’s already taking such good care of Lady.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has already donated toward Lady’s medical care. So far, you’ve helped us raise approximately $3,955 of the $6,300 needed. We still have a ways to go, so if you’d like to contribute or simply share Lady’s story, every little bit of support is deeply appreciated.

Tommy would like to get to know you… from over there at first!

Located in Maryland.

Meet Tommy! 3 years old, 75 pounds, stunningly handsome, luxuriously fluffy, and currently operating under a strict “I don’t know you like that” policy.

Tommy is a very sweet boy. He’s also extremely shy, which means he won’t be throwing himself into your lap five minutes after meeting you. First, there will be observation. Then more observation. Possibly a thorough evaluation of your character from a safe distance.

But once Tommy decides you’re trustworthy? That’s when you get to meet the sweet, playful, goofy guy hiding underneath all that magnificent German Shepherd fluff.

Tommy didn’t get the social experiences he needed when he was younger, so he’s looking for a special adopter who understands shy dogs and won’t rush him. He needs someone patient enough to let him build confidence at his own pace and appreciate just how meaningful those little milestones are.

He’s crate trained, neutered, leash trained, intelligent, gentle, and has perfected the art of being both 75 pounds and somehow hoping you don’t notice him.

Because Tommy’s extreme shyness makes him a high flight risk if he were ever to escape, a secure, high fenced yard is strongly preferred. His adopter will need to be especially careful about his safety as he adjusts to his new home.

Tommy may not love you at first sight. But give him the chance to love you at his own pace, and you just might end up with one incredibly special best friend.

Goliath is ready for his happily ever after!

Located in Maryland.

There’s something incredibly special about Goliath. This big, handsome 1 year old boy may look imposing at first glance, but underneath it all is a gentle soul who simply wants to feel safe, loved, and close to his people.

Goliath’s past may not have been kind to him, but somehow, it hasn’t changed the sweetness in his heart. He is affectionate, gentle, even tempered, and eager to please. Every volunteer who spends time with him sees the same thing: a big teddy bear who is learning that people can be good and that life can be so much more than whatever came before.

Even the shelter veterinarian commented on Goliath’s exceptionally sweet temperament! He has been gentle and loving with the people he meets, does well with other dogs, rides well in the car, and is crate trained. And despite his size (currently around 70 pounds), one of his favorite places to be is right beside you, soaking up as much affection as you’re willing to give.

Goliath came to us heartworm positive, but there’s exciting news- he’s almost at the finish line! His final heartworm treatment is coming up in the next few days. After roughly another month of restricted activity, this sweet boy should finally be able to leave the leash walk only days behind and run, play, and enjoy the life he deserves.

Goliath has already overcome so much. Now he just needs the part of his story we can’t give him without your help - a family of his own.

Maybe the person he’s been waiting for is reading this right now!

Look who’s arrived - meet Ollie!

Located in Maryland.

Say hello to Ollie, an adorable 5 month old pup who has officially arrived and is ready to start looking for his forever family!

Ollie came to us as a stray, so we don’t know much about his life before now, but his happy, playful personality is already shining through. A huge thank you to Pilots N Paws for helping this sweet boy make his journey to us and giving him a lift toward his next chapter!

Ollie is playful with other dogs and, like most puppies his age, is still learning all the ins and outs of canine social boundaries. He’s an enthusiastic little guy who is eager to play, explore and soak up everything the world has to offer.

At just 5 months old, Ollie is still very much a puppy, so older children are recommended. His puppy enthusiasm may occasionally get the best of him, and he could inadvertently knock over smaller children while having fun.

Ollie has so much growing, learning and loving ahead of him, and he’s looking for a family ready to enjoy all the fun that comes with raising a puppy. With training, consistency and plenty of love, we think this happy boy is going to make a wonderful companion.

We are over the moon thanks to all of you, our amazing supporters ........as a result of your generous donations , we have received donations totalling $3417, more than halfway to the amount for Lady's surgery.

Lady's surgery at a local Vet Surgical Specialist includes a radical mastectomy of 3 mammary glands and a lumpectomy of one nodule, plus an overnight stay at the vet hospital due to the lengthy surgery and her age ( somewhere between 8 and 9) .
