Help Us Give Cosmo (and His Herd) the Care They Deserve 🐴💛 - FUNDRAISER

We’re reaching out from Tula Vida Foundation with a real need for your support.
In summary, we have some expensive horse healthcare bills and we are asking for donations (PayPal link is below).
Cosmo is lame
A few months ago, our beloved elder horse Cosmo came in lame, we were worried he had broken a bone. X-rays didn’t show much, so he rested inside on pain meds, missing his herd (especially his best friend Gitana). When he improved, we let him back out for his quality of life—but his pain returned and he started losing weight.
Last week, our vet came again. More advanced tests revealed a chronic and painful arthritis in his knee. He can’t flex it at all and even needs sedation to trim his hooves. He’s in the stall again for 2 weeks, after anti-inflammatory shots and with pain management.
There’s a treatment in the US—a long-lasting joint injection that could make a world of difference if we can get it to him. It’s not a cure, but it could help Cosmo live out his twilight years with comfort and dignity. He’s given so much in his life—from farm and trail work to now supporting humans as a therapy horse. We want to honor that. Those of you who know him understand just how much he enjoys his independent life, and what a huge heart he has. And that sense of humour – you can see it in his face!
We’re also exploring PEMF therapy, another non-invasive option to manage his pain so he can return to the herd and his best friend Gitana.
Treatment Costs
Each US shot costs $250 and needs to be given every 3 months—$750 for the year—plus vet visits and checkups ($500+ each visit). On top of this, all 14 of our horses just received essential vaccinations ($100 per horse) after a friend tragically lost their horse to tetanus—an urgent reminder of the basics we can't afford to skip. When you have this many rescue horses the costs add up of course, but we always put their health first.
Kikaton special shoes
And Kikaton, one of our younger horses, was just diagnosed with joint degeneration in his ankle—likely due to poor care and overwork as a dancing horse before he came to us. He’ll need treatment and corrective shoes from a specialist farrier.
It’s a lot. And it’s all hit at once.
We’re trying to raise $5,000 to cover these unexpected but critical medical expenses.
The Tula Vida Foundation - including many of you - already helps us so much—we’re deeply grateful. But truthfully, we still personally subsidize a lot of the horses’ care. With a quieter time on the business side, we’re reaching out to ask for your support.
