Resharing this today for National Rescue Dog Day 💖🐶
5 years later and Letty has blossomed into the weirdest dog I have ever met. I’m actually convinced she’s an alien pretending to be a dog.
Watching her go from scared and unsure of everything to now doing her little butt-tuck zoomie spins when she gets excited, being obsessed with treats, claiming the couch as her own, and loving hikes has been really special.
Rescue dogs deserve patience, understanding, and a chance. Sometimes they end up saving you too. 💘🐕
Today is National Rescue Dog Day! 🐶🐾💞
**I WANT TO KNOW WHAT BREED EVERYONE THINKS SHE IS**
This is my rescue girl, Letty aka Stinky, on our car ride home from her adoption. Everyone says she’s smiling in this picture!
Labor of Love Animal Sanctuary (LOLAS), located in Abingdon, pulled her from a shelter in Texas. She was saved from a hoarding situation where she lived with dozens of other dogs and inside of a cage for 23 hours of the day. I also believe she was used for breeding.
This poor girl didn’t know what love was, what a toy was, a comfortable bed, anything a “normal” dog would. We’ve had her for 1 year and almost 2 months and she is still learning and growing. Sudden movements and noises, of all kinds, scared the daylights out of her. She would scarf down her food so fast, as if she wouldn’t be getting anymore anytime soon, that we had to use a slow feeder food bowl. I can only imagine the things she’s been through. It takes a lot of time and patience to help a rescue dog unlearn their past and learn to love and trust again (or for the first time).
Letty finally has a loving home and knows what it means to be free and happy and loved. She has an endless amount of toys, comfy spots to sleep and a big back yard for her crazy fast zoomies. I’m so glad she found us. 💘🐶🦮🐾
