☀️🐾 HEAT ADVISORY ALERT 🐾☀️
The temperatures are rising this week, with heat index values expected to climb above 100°F in parts of Missouri. That kind of heat can be dangerous for both people and pets, so it’s important to take extra precautions.

Here are a few ways to keep your pup safe:
💧 Always provide plenty of fresh water
🌳 Limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day
🐾 Check pavement temperatures before walks (if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!)
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car
❄️ Consider indoor playtime or daycare

Our team is taking extra steps to keep all of our guests comfortable and safe during the heat, including plenty of water breaks, shade, and indoor cooling opportunities. ❤️

Meet our next trainer, Landon Landreth!

Dog training has always been part of Landon’s life. Growing up with both parents as professional trainers, he developed a deep appreciation for the impact thoughtful training can have on both dogs and their families.

As a member of the inaugural class at Kennelwood Academy, Landon became the first overall graduate to complete the program. He now trains at Kennelwood South County, where he focuses on obedience, scent work, and behavior modification.

Landon is passionate about helping families communicate clearly and effectively with their pets so they can fully enjoy life together. His goal is to equip owners with practical tools that build confidence and create lasting results. Outside of training, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his dogs, Finley and Fern.

Today is all about celebrating the dogs who make our lives better in every way. From the goofy moments that make us laugh to the quiet companionship that gets us through tough days, dogs truly do it all.

National Dog Day also serves as a reminder to appreciate all dogs whether they’re family pets, working dogs, service dogs, or those still waiting for their forever homes.

Meet our next Kennelwood trainer, Brandi Sidebottom!

Brandi is the Off-Site Trainer for Kennelwood Pet Resorts and has been a professional dog trainer since 2016. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education, is certified through the Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), and is an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator.

At Kennelwood, Brandi leads a variety of group training classes, including Tricks, Advanced Obedience, Agility, and Advanced Agility, as well as specialized programs like Office Manners, Apartment Manners, and Baby Steps. As the Jr. Handlers program trainer, she combines her background in education with her passion for teaching, helping children build safe, respectful, and enriching relationships with animals.

Brandi shares her life with five dogs and one very spoiled cat.Together, they train in obedience, rally, agility, scent trailing, and dock diving.
Her long-term goal is to compete in scent trailing and become part of a search and rescue team.
