Potter's Poultry Ranch is open Thursday through Saturday, 8:30am-4:00pm., April through October. We are located at 12608 Meacham Rd, Bakersfield, CA 93312. East off of Allen Road, just North of Rosedale Highway. NO appointment is required. Please ring the doorbell on the side wood gate, next to the garage. A staff member will promptly greet you.

All chicks, pullets/cockerels (outdoor acclimated teens) are sold unsexed as hatched, or “Straight Run,” unless otherwise noted. Newer hatches may be held for an additional day or two to ensure perfection.

𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦: Our assortments are created, typically at the beginning of each poultry season, to offer customers a vast selection of birds through small batch hatches. Our assortments contain multiple breeds of a single type, such as Wyandotte’s, or multiple breeds of a single category, such as Colored Egg Layers. Though we’re unable to guarantee that every Wyandotte breed in existence shall be in our assortment at all given moments, we do guarantee that every breed in 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 assortment is in fact a purebred Wyandotte. The same applies to a category assortment; we simply cannot guarantee that every bird that may lay a colored egg will be available on the day/time that you may be here. While some assortments are phased out as the season progresses and we’re able to house those sought-after individual breeds in much greater volume, other assortments, such as our Heavy (Female) Layers are restocked constantly as more hatches take place. We leave the selection of assortment birds completely up to our customers. Most love the up-close experience in choosing the exact chick they wish, as well as the surprise in seeing its color feathering as it matures. If you seek a specific breed or type of bird, we discourage you from purchasing from an assortment and suggest that you wait until 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 desired breed is listed individually under our Available Poultry header.

𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦: We have some additional news to share… We’ve nearly finished the addition of The Potter’s Poultry Ranch 𝙁𝘼𝙍𝙈 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙉𝘿!!! Though our ‘stand’ is quite petite and is of NO comparison to Murray Family Farms’ heavenly haven that has blessed our community for years (I LOVE that place!), it’s a BIG deal for us. Since we intentionally limit our (poultry) days of operation to Thursday through Saturday, so our birds are rewarded the utmost comfort, free-range exercise and relaxation without being confined to pens & kennels for onsite sales, this doesn’t exactly offer our valued customers much convenience in purchasing their fresh eggs, meat, jellies, jams, honey and poultry feed, on their chosen shopping days. We hope our farm stand, open 6-7 days per week, will afford the convenience that so many have been seeking (and give me a chance to show off a little creativity too)!

𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗘/𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗬: We stand behind our birds, just not under them! All birds are guaranteed to be in excellent health and condition and are warrantied for a period of 48 hours from purchase. Per USDA safeguards, Potter’s Poultry Ranch may not take in birds at any time, for any reason, due to risk in cross contamination and biosecurity hazard. Once a bird leaves our facility, it may not be returned to our facility.

𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚/𝗣𝗔𝗬𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧: Our pricing varies by breed, age and rarity. Prices range from $10 to about $75. We do not publish specific pricing on any social media platform per the site’s guidelines in rehoming and selling live animals. We accept cash and credit as methods of payment.

𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 & 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦: All Chickens are vaccinated for Marek's Disease & Coccidiosis and are sold as Straight Run, unless otherwise noted. Vaccinated birds are not intended for meat consumption. Potter's Poultry Ranch, Inc. ("PPR"), supports the USDA National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) in keeping poultry safe and you should too! Bantams, Meat birds, Turkeys, Ducks and Geese are excluded from vaccinations. PPR has 95% sexing accuracy though occasionally, error does occur. Customers are encouraged to thoroughly review their selections prior to purchase and leaving our facility. PPR does not offer refund for sexing dissatisfaction.

Last year, we were very proud to introduce our sweet & tangy Beaks & Butts BBQ Sauces, Wildflower Honey, freshly processed Chicken & Duck meat, and our own line of “Baby” products… SPA BABY, an Herbal & Botanical Dust Bath additive; NEST BABY, a Floral & Herbal Nesting Box additive; and YUM BABY, 2 varieties of poultry treat. This year, we’re pleased to introduce yet another to our collection, “COOP COOKIES,” is an all-natural fruit, berry, grain and mealworm mix. PLEASE pick up a FREE Sample. Coop Cookies is in stock and available in 16, 32 and 64oz jars. Your flock will NOT be disappointed, at least not until the jar is empty!

𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗘𝗚𝗚𝗦: Our table eggs are fresh, unwashed, refrigerated, and no more than 4 days old. Chicken eggs are $5 per dozen; Duck eggs are $7 per dozen. If you enjoy baking, hands-down, there is NO match for our fresh duck eggs in your recipes! If you desire edible eggs that have not been refrigerated, please request such at least 48 hours in advance.

𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗘𝗚𝗚𝗦: Hatching CHICKEN eggs are available for purchase at a rate of $25 per dozen. Standard breed Eggs are fresh, gathered daily and shall be no older than 3 days at the time of purchase. No distinction is made to a specific breed; this is a diverse gathering of our purebred & hybrid stock only. PPR makes no guarantee of hatchability due to circumstances outside of our control, i.e., incubation, temperature, humidity, etc.

Customers with pet carriers that do not meet the minimum requirements for safe transport, will be declined purchase.

𝗣𝗨𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦: We do NOT have any quantity limits on bird purchases. Customers may purchase as many or as few birds as they wish. We remind you that poultry are flock birds. In other words, you must have at least two to have a flock. Unique birds (in breed, type and size) such as Bantams, Polish, Silkie, and those that are feather-footed, require you to have at least two of that type, or they may become targets for picking and injury by other birds. All Poultry is best purchased in pairs.
