This week’s Pet Palace Pet of the Week, presented by Pet Palace where pets are treated like royalty, is Sally, a sweet and loving dog hoping to find her forever home.

Tara Nelson with the Bakersfield Animal Care Center introduces Sally, a Labrador mix with some very distinctive hound-like features. Her wide feet, shorter legs and adorable ears have Tara wondering if Sally may also have some Basset Hound in her mix.

Sally was brought to the Animal Care Center after being picked up as a stray by animal control. She arrived in good health with a beautiful coat and has proven to be an incredibly friendly dog. She can be a little shy at first, but she is quickly coming out of her shell and loves attention—including sitting on a lap.

Sally arrived at the shelter with another female dog who appears to be her sibling. The two dogs are currently kennel mates and get along well with each other, although they do not have to be adopted together. Sally also does well with other dogs.

Sally has already been spayed and is ready to go home. She is still learning how to walk on a leash, so her new family will need to be patient as she continues to gain confidence and learn.

Because Sally is a young, active dog, she will benefit from a home with enough space for her to exercise and a family willing to take her on regular walks.

If you’re interested in meeting Sally—or any of the other animals looking for homes—the Animal Care Center welcomes visitors without an appointment for meet-and-greets. If you already have a pet, you’re also welcome to bring them along to help make sure it’s a good match.

Sally is Pet .

Visit the Bakersfield Animal Care Center at 201 South Mt. Vernon Avenue or call 661-832-PETS (7387). You can also follow Bakersfield Animal Care Center for more information about available pets. Bakersfield Animal Care Center
