🐾 CLIENTS—HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHY DOG GROOMING COSTS WHAT IT DOES?
This is a judgment-free Ask a Groomer post!
We want our clients to feel comfortable asking honest questions about grooming prices, training, equipment, appointment times or anything else you have wondered about. No question is silly, and respectful questions are always welcome.
Here are a few things many people may not realize:
🎓 Depending on the program, professional grooming education and certification can cost approximately $5,000 to $10,000 or more. After school, groomers still need extensive hands-on experience working with different breeds, coat types, temperaments and health concerns.
✂️ Groomers also invest in electric grooming tables, high-velocity dryers, kennels, clippers, blades, shears, brushes, combs and specialty tools. A quality pair of shears can cost hundreds of dollars, and blades and shears require regular professional sharpening and replacement.
🧴Every appointment also uses professional shampoo, conditioner, coat treatments, disinfectants, laundry supplies, water and electricity.
🐕 Your grooming price reflects more than the haircut. It includes the groomer’s education, experience, time, physical labor, safety knowledge, equipment, products and the individual needs of your dog. Size, coat condition, matting, behavior and time between appointments can all affect the price.
Now it’s your turn: What have you always wanted to ask a professional groomer about pricing or the grooming process?
Please ask freely in the comments! We want this to be an open, respectful conversation that helps clients better understand what goes into safely and professionally caring for their dogs. 🐾
