October 1st is National Black Dog Day. 

Black and dark colored dogs in animal shelters are overlooked and less likely to be adopted. This October 1st, consider giving a black dog in a local rescue or shelter a permanent home.

October is also National Pit Bull Awareness Month - you can make an impact by adopting a black pittie from your local shelter or rescue!
