Veterinary Assistant – Animal Lover With a Little Hustle Needed!

Do you love animals? Great start!
Can you love animals while answering a question, holding a wiggly puppy, avoiding a flying toenail, starting the laundry, and remembering where you put your pen? Even better. You may be our person.
Welcome Waggin’ Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our busy, slightly crazy, animal-loving team.
A Typical Day Might Include:
Holding a 90-pound dog who is absolutely convinced he weighs 9 pounds
Convincing a cat that we are, in fact, trying to help
Assisting our veterinarians and technicians with appointments and treatments
Preparing rooms and supplies
Helping with lab work, hospitalized patients, and procedures
Cleaning up things you probably don't discuss over dinner
Doing laundry. So. Much. Laundry.
Loving on puppies and kittens — yes, this part really is included
Helping your teammates through the 4:30 PM rush
Finding something productive to do when you have a free minute
You'll Probably Fit In Here If You:
LOVE animals but understand this job involves a lot more than cuddling them
Have a good sense of humor
Show up when you're scheduled and on time
Like being busy and enjoy staying engaged throughout the day
Notice the overflowing laundry basket and take care of it
Can take direction and work well with others
Aren't afraid of p**p, p*e, slobber, a**l glands, blood, cat claws, or the occasional mystery substance
Can move with a sense of urgency when the hospital gets busy
Are kind to clients even when the day has been completely bananas
Enjoy being part of a team where everyone pitches in
Experience?
Veterinary experience is definitely a plus, but we're willing to train the right person.
We can teach you veterinary skills.
What matters most is bringing work ethic, dependability, kindness, common sense, and initiative to the role.
Why Welcome Waggin’?
We're serious about patient care, but we don't believe we have to be serious every minute of the day.
You'll work hard. You'll learn a lot. You'll probably go home with animal hair somewhere it shouldn't be. You'll have hectic days and rewarding days that remind you exactly why you chose veterinary medicine.
And you'll be part of a team that genuinely cares about its patients, clients, and each other.
Think you can keep up with us? We'd love to meet you.

Email your resume to [email protected] and tell us why you think you'd be a great addition to our crew.
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Ayden, NC

Experience: Veterinary or animal-handling experience preferred, but personality, reliability, and work ethic count for a lot.

❤️🐾 IT STARTED WITH AN IDEA—AN IDEA BORN FROM A CRISIS.

Last month, you showed up in force to support that idea. Our standing-room-only interest meeting help at Welcome Waggin' Animal Hospital was nothing short of inspiring and confirmed what we already knew:

The need is enormous. And this community is ready to do something about it.

We knew there were community cats everywhere—cats needing spay/neuter, medical care, compassion, and people willing to stand up and help.

So we started the Community Cat Action Team.

And today, that idea became action.

🐾 CCAT held our FIRST TNVR clinic! 🐾

It was a small but MIGHTY start, and we couldn't be prouder of what was accomplished.

A heartfelt thank you to our first group of volunteers who showed up, stepped in, and helped make today possible. You are the foundation of what we are building. And to everyone who raised a hand at that first meeting, reached out afterward, shared our mission, or has been waiting for a way to get involved—there is room for you. We need you.

Because today wasn't about numbers.

It was about cats.

Every cat helped matters.
Every spay and neuter matters.
Every future litter prevented matters.
Every sick or injured cat given a chance matters.
And every person who traps, transports, volunteers, donates, advocates, or simply refuses to look the other way matters.

Today, while working to prevent future litters, we also had the powerful opportunity to give three tiny lives a chance by choosing not to abort them—because even the smallest, most vulnerable lives matter. ❤️

The need is far greater than any one clinic or handful of people can tackle.

This crisis is not a secret. Neither is our mission.

CCAT is here to make TNVR accessible, help sick and injured cats, support the people caring for them, and bring together a community willing to take action.

Today wasn't the finish line. It was the starting line.

❤️ We will keep showing up.
🐾 We will keep doing the work.
❤️ We will keep helping cats.
🐾 We will not stop.

CCAT is just getting started. Will you join us?

📣 Our next clinic is coming next month. Stay tuned—there is a place for YOU in this mission.

🦉🦅🐔 **Apparently, birds of a feather flock to... Welcome Waggin' Animal Hospital!**

This week we've welcomed an owl, a hawk **and even a chicken**—because apparently word is getting out in the entire bird community.

We're starting to wonder if they've got a secret group chat:
*"Need a vet? Go to Welcome Waggin'—they're a real hoot, a real hawk, and apparently... egg-cellent too!"*

Whether your family member has fur, feathers, scales, or just an attitude, our team is here to provide compassionate care when it's needed most.

Who knows... maybe the next patient will fly (or strut) in with an appointment instead of just winging it!

Thanks to everyone who watches out for injured wildlife and helps them get the care they deserve. ❤️

🐔 **Why did the chicken cross the road?**

To prove that *Google Maps* really does know where the nearest vet is. 😂

She marched right up to Welcome Waggin' Animal Hospital like she had an appointment… though she was in pretty rough shape when she arrived. The good news? She’s on the mend and already showing her feisty little personality again.

She’s safe, enjoying the VIP treatment (Very Important Poultry), and we’re working to find her family. If she’s yours—or you know who she belongs to—please let us know!

Until then, we’ll keep the snacks (and the TLC) coming. 🐓❤️

🐾 **Our Community Needs You. Our Cats Need Us.** ❤️

Have you ever wished you could do more for a cat in need?

Maybe you've seen a hungry community cat searching for food.
Maybe you've worried about a neighbor who couldn't afford veterinary care for a beloved pet.
Maybe you've wanted to help but didn't know where to start.

You're not alone.

That's why we created the **Community Cat Action Team**—because we believe that **every cat is a community cat, and every cat is someone's family.**

Whether a cat lives indoors, outdoors, or somewhere in between, they deserve compassion, care, and a community that refuses to look away.

Our mission is bigger than TNVR. We're building a network of neighbors helping neighbors—working together to:
🐾 Humanely reduce community cat overpopulation through TNVR.
❤️ Help families find resources when they can't afford veterinary care for the cats they love.
🤝 Support local rescuers and caregivers who dedicate their hearts to helping animals.
🏡 Create a community where no one has to face an animal in need alone.

**No one can do everything. But everyone can do something.**

You can volunteer.
You can sponsor a spay or neuter.
You can transport a cat.
You can donate supplies.
You can share our mission.
You can help a family find hope.

Every act of kindness tells someone, **"You don't have to do this alone."**

This is more than a volunteer group. It's a community coming together to protect the animals that depend on us and to support the people who love them.

💜 **Today, we're asking you to join us.**

If you've ever loved a cat...
If you've ever rescued an animal...
If you've ever believed that compassion can change lives...

**This is your invitation.**

Join the **Community Cat Action Team**. Invite a friend. Share this post. Become part of a movement that's bringing hope to cats, families, and our entire community.

**Because when we come together, we don't just save cats—we strengthen the community we all call home.**

🐾 **Let's build a community where every cat matters, every family has hope, and no one has to face an animal in need alone. Together, we can make that vision a reality.**
