Meet Your Feed Dealer | Part 5: Meet the Family ❤️
Over the past few days we've shared how we got started, why we chose Kent Feeds, and what goes on behind the scenes. We figured it was time to introduce the crew behind it all.

Nathan
If you ask Nathan what he does for fun, he'll probably tell you, "I don't really have hobbies."
Which is true... because his job is his hobby.
Along with running the feed store, he farms row crops, manages our cow-calf herd, and dabbles in hay baling. In the winter, when things slow down just enough, you'll usually find him playing Farming Simulator... as if he doesn't get enough farming during the other seasons!
If he had to pick a favorite pastime, it'd probably be summer sand volleyball, spending time with the family, or—as he so eloquently put it—"fixing my kids' broken stuff*." (Getting him to answer this question may have been the hardest part of writing these posts 😂)

Bobbi
When I'm not at the feed store, I'm a pediatric ICU nurse at Children's. My schedule now lets me spend most weekdays at home, and honestly, it feels like the best of both worlds.
I love baking, gardening, and I have a horse I wish I rode more often. But my favorite thing is spending time with Nathan and our kids—whether we're working around the farm or just together.

Oliver
Oliver is our oldest and Nathan's biggest fan. If Dad is doing it, Oliver wants to be right there beside him.
His current career plan? To own a feedlot..."when I'm a dad."
He's also getting into sports and loves any chance he gets to go go-karting.

Cullen
Cullen is our middle child and definitely the comic relief of the family. He's always making us laugh, always ready to help, and wants to be involved in absolutely everything.
He's the kind of kid who can brighten your day without even trying.

Eleanor
Then there's our little girl, Eleanor.
She's equal parts sweet, spicy, and salty, and she has no problem keeping up with her big brothers. She's probably the dirtiest little girl around—not because we don't try to keep her clean, but because she'd much rather be outside.
She loves her "neigh neighs," cows, puppies, and just about any animal she can find.

Bedsides the livestock, our farm is also home to chickens, dogs, and cats. And if it were up to me, we'd probably have a few more. Nathan keeps reminding me we have enough. 😉

At the end of the day, we're just a family doing what we love. We feel incredibly blessed to raise our kids on the farm, serve our community through the feed store, and build a business together.

Whether you've been buying feed from us for years or just stopped in for the first time, thank you for supporting our family. We're grateful you're here.

Meet Your Feed Dealer | Part 4: Feed Run Day 🚛

Every bag of feed on our shelves starts with a trip to Columbus.

Before an order is ever placed, Nathan spends time walking through our inventory, looking at what's moving, what our customers are likely to need over the next week, and making sure we're prepared. Then it's time to place an order with the Kent Nutrition Group plant in Columbus.
(Hi, Larry! 👋)

Depending on what's on the order, Nathan might hook up the pickup and flatbed, or if we're bringing home creep feed or tubs, he'll take the straight truck.

His favorite feed run? An early morning one.
There's something about watching the sun come up on the drive to Columbus and still being back home before lunch that never gets old.

These days, Nathan probably makes more trips to 68601 than I do! I grew up just north of Columbus, so that area will always feel like home. Nathan, on the other hand, likes to joke that it's "far enough north to be Canada… eh?" 🇨🇦

Once the truck is loaded, the route home depends on what our customers need. Some days he'll stop along the way to fill creep feeders before heading home. Other days the inventory comes straight back to the farm, where we'll unload and then make a run to our Avoca store to restock the shelves.

No two feed runs are exactly alike, but every one has the same goal: making sure the feed you need is ready when you stop in.

It's just one more part of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our little feed business running—and we're grateful to do it.

Meet Your Feed Dealer | Part 3: How We Make It Work

One of the questions we get asked is, "How do you do it all?"

The truth is—it takes a lot of planning, a little flexibility, and plenty of teamwork.

Throughout the week, you'll usually find Bobbi and the kids at our Avoca store, checking inventory, helping customers, and making sure the shelves stay stocked. Nathan is typically there on Saturday mornings, catching up with customers and helping everyone get what they need for the week ahead.

Behind the scenes, we're constantly moving feed from our farm warehouse to the Avoca store so inventory is where you need it, when you need it.

One thing that's important to us is knowing our customers. We try to keep up with your routines, your feeding schedules, and when you're likely to need another load of feed. That open communication helps us make recommendations, keep products in stock, and even save you an extra trip.

For our Omaha-area customers, Bobbi often makes feed deliveries on her work nights, because we know life gets busy and sometimes convenience makes all the difference.

We're a small, family-run business, and that means there isn't a "shipping department" or a "delivery team." It's just us—working together to serve our customers the best we can.

Thank you for trusting us with your farms, your animals, and your pets. We truly appreciate every bag of feed you purchase and every conversation we get to have along the way.

Meet Your Feed Dealer | Part 2: Why Kent Feeds?

When we took over the feed business, there was one thing we never questioned: Kent Feeds.
Nathan and his family have trusted Kent products for more than 20 years. Long before we owned a feed store, these were the feeds we relied on for our own animals. We've seen the results firsthand, and that's something you can't put a price on.

What keeps us coming back is simple:
✔️ Tried-and-true formulas that have consistently performed over the years.
✔️ Quality that remains consistent across every species—from livestock to pets.
✔️ A product that's priced fairly without sacrificing nutrition or performance.

When we recommend a feed, it's because we'd feed it ourselves.
But a great product is only part of what makes a good feed store.

Harry built this business on something even more valuable: taking care of people. He knew his customers, answered questions honestly, and was always willing to help. We loved that about Harry, and we hope we've carried that same standard forward.

Whether you're feeding one backyard chicken, a barn full of cattle, or the family dog, our goal is the same—to help you find the right feed, answer your questions, and provide the kind of service that keeps you coming back.

Thank you for trusting us to serve your families, your farms, and the animals you care for. We don't take that responsibility lightly.

Meet your feed dealer: Part 1 Our Story

There are a lot of things we love about small-town business, but our favorite is getting to know the people we serve. We've met so many new customers over the past few years that we realized many of you know where to find us—but not how we got here.

So today, we thought we'd share the story behind the feed store.
Our story begins with Harry.

Long before we ever owned a feed store, Nathan's family bought feed from Harry for as long as Nathan can remember. Harry built more than a business—he built relationships with the people he served.

A few years back, Harry and Linda were heading to Las Vegas for a construction convention and asked if we would watch over the store while they were gone.
While they were visiting, Nathan jokingly asked Harry, "So when you decide to retire, who's going to take over the business?"

Harry's answer wasn't a joke.
"You are."

From that moment on, we began learning every part of the business. What started as helping out gradually became preparing for the future, and in 2023, we officially became the owners.

We first operated out of Harry's original shop, and while we've grown into new locations, preserving the history of this business has always been important to us. That's why we purchased one of Harry's former buildings—known as "the gas station"—which is now our Avoca location.
It continues to serve our southeast Nebraska customers with a well-stocked selection of feed and supplies.

Our main feed warehouse is now located on our farm west of Elmwood, where we keep the majority of our inventory and continue expanding our services. Over the past two years we've added creep feed services and continue looking for ways to better serve local livestock producers.

Every week—or every other week—Nathan makes the trip to the KNG plant in Columbus, Nebraska, bringing back the products our customers depend on. We work hard to keep our shelves stocked so you can spend less time searching for feed and more time doing what you love.

Today we proudly carry feed for nearly every member of the farm—and the family—including:
🐄 Cattle
🐑 Sheep
🐐 Goats
🐖 Pigs
🐴 Horses
🐔 Chickens, ducks, and turkeys
🐇 Rabbits
🐟 Fish
🐦 Birds
🐕 Dogs
🐈 Cats

Whether you're raising a show animal, managing a commercial herd, feeding backyard chickens, or simply spoiling your family pet, we're here to help. If we don't currently stock what you're looking for, we're always happy to see if we can get it or compare it to products we know and trust.
More than anything, we're thankful for the customers who have trusted us through this transition. We're honored to carry on the legacy Harry built while continuing to grow it for the next generation.

Thank you for allowing our family to serve yours.

🐄🌱 Green grass is exciting — but don’t forget what’s happening beneath the surface.

As pastures come alive with lush, fast-growing spring growth, cattle can be at risk for grass tetany, a condition associated with magnesium deficiency that can progress quickly. Prevention is key when it comes to protecting your herd.

A good mineral program can help support your cattle through changing pasture conditions.

✔️ Framework 365 Mineral MG
✔️ Framework 365 Performance MG
✔️ EnergiLass Super High-Mag 12

are designed to help provide the magnesium support your herd needs during this critical time.

🌱 Don’t wait until there’s a problem — build prevention into your grazing plan.

Stop in or reach out today and let us help you find the right mineral program for your herd.
