Today is National Check the Chip Day!
As a pet owner, you want to do all you can to keep your pet safe from harm. For many pet parents that means microchipping their pets. According to AVMA and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), microchips “greatly increase the chance that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen.” Please check your already-microchipped pet’s registration information in the microchip manufacturer’s database, and make sure it’s up-to-date! 🐾💓

Why Spay & Neuter Your Pet?

Helps reduce pet homelessness:
Millions of healthy dogs and cats end up in shelters each year due to a high number of pets and not enough homes. Spaying/neutering helps reduce overpopulation and reduces strain on animal welfare organizations!

Medical benefits:

Spaying female pets prevents uterine infections and greatly reduces the risk of breast tumors.

Neutering males prevents testicular cancer and some prostate issues.

Behavioral benefits:

Females won’t go into heat—no yowling or frequent urination indoors.

Males are less likely to roam, mark territory with urine, or show mating behaviors like mounting! It may even reduce some aggression.

🐶😸 Skin issues are one of the most common reasons pets visit the veterinarian!
If you've noticed your pet scratching more than usual, licking their paws, losing patches of fur, or developing redness or bumps, it may be more than just an itch. Skin problems can have many different causes, including:
🐾 Allergies (food, environmental, or flea-related)
🦟 Fleas, ticks, or mites
🦠 Bacterial or yeast infections
🔥 Hot spots
🍄 Ringworm
🌾 Dry skin
🩺 Hormonal or autoimmune conditions
Keep an eye out for signs like:
• Excessive scratching or licking
• Hair loss
• Red or irritated skin
• Scabs or sores
• Flaky skin
• Unusual odors
• Lumps, bumps, or skin discoloration
Because many skin conditions can look similar, it's important to have your pet examined by your veterinarian. Identifying the underlying cause is the first step toward getting your furry friend feeling comfortable again.
If you've noticed changes in your pet's skin or coat, don't wait—schedule an appointment so we can help get to the root of the problem. 💙🐾
