June 13th CTSSA Show at Scissortail
CANCELLED

Due to heavy rains, high temps, and low entries we are choosing to cancel our competition next weekend. The spring has brought lots of rain and we are not complaining!

HOWEVER mark your calendars for June 27th! We have a super fun event in the works with Eventing, Obstacles, Jumpers and maybe Dressage. We are thinking of some fun special events and games for this day.

DONT WORRY EVERYTHING WILL BE DONE before the afternoon for this event! We will start early, with cooling stations and get done fast! Expect close ride times and fun unique games and challenges!

Our camp counselors are so creative and fun! Here the campers are practicing balance and they even had a mini "bronc" riding practice šŸ˜„ The covered arena is full of exciting fun in the afternoons. From relay races identifying tools, to learning in hand skills with the donkeys!

We took a nice group of wonderful ladies to school cross country at Crossgate today. The weather was absolutely unbeatable for this time of the year in Texas and we enjoyed a few wonderful hours, challenging ourselves and playing. Everybody had a great time and we had such a fun mix of levels and were able to learn from each other!

These four young ladies have really dug in deep with these project ponies.

For a few of them training is a new experience and they've been doing so well at taking my instructions and recommendations to heart. Training is not for the weak and it's not for the impatient.

Right now we are taking it slow and going through systematic steps to check in with where each horse is in their experience, ability and confidence levels concerning all the basic skills. First and foremost, these horses must be safe and handleable on the ground . I truly believe the bottom of every training scale should be cohabitation and safe handling long before riding is introduced.

Each of these horses has their own challenges and in the end both handlers and horses will be the better for having each other!

Absolutely stunning raw photo with no filter of last night's sunset after the unexpected storms rolled through.

It seems like lately lessons and barn activities have had to be ready for plan ABC and possibly z.. Our first lesson managed to get on and warm up before the lightning was too close and it was only getting closer so we practiced finding heart rates. Listening to gut sounds and wrapping wounds in various locations on the legs.

Have to be positive and be thankful for the rain and the opportunity to fill the gaps in my students education.
