Brutus, formerly known as Cauliflower, waited 1,386 days at APA! for a home.
When Brutus arrived at APA! at 10 years old, he was partially paralyzed, on daily medication, and terrified at night. He had quite the uphill battle to move through. But his foster mom Laura saw something in him the day she took him in, and she kept seeing it for three and a half years!
In that time, Brutus has had two dental surgeries, eye surgery, and has learned to navigate the world with a belly band to support his hind legs. He now follows Laura from room to room just to be near her, burrowing into her side and extending snuggle sessions whenever he gets the chance.
Laura had one way of describing him: “Brutus is by far the bravest dog I have ever met.”
On March 30th, and at nearly 14 years old, Laura made the decision to keep Brutus out of the shelter for good and permanently invite him into her home.
There are more pets like Brutus out there. Senior dogs with big hearts and complex needs who just need the right person to look their way.
Thanks to our friends at The Grey Muzzle Organization, we are able to provide senior dogs like Brutus the medical care they need — so that they can find a home, and more importantly, a family to live their golden years with. And that's exactly what this old man is doing today. 🐾
