Fall means more than leaves hitting the ground! Acorns, nuts, berries, seed pods, and other tree debris can look like irresistible snacks or toys to curious pets.
A few ways to keep your yard safer this fall:
🍁 Do a quick yard sweep — Regularly rake or pick up acorns, nuts, berries, and fallen fruit, especially in areas where your pet plays.
🐶 Know your chewer — Dogs that love sticks, rocks, or anything they can fit in their mouth deserve a little extra supervision outside.
🌳 Know what grows in your yard. Some trees, plants, nuts, and berries can be toxic to pets. If you’re unsure what something is, don’t let your pet eat it.
👀 Watch for missing pieces! Even non-toxic items can become a choking hazard or cause an intestinal blockage if swallowed.
🚨 Don’t wait if something was swallowed! Vomiting, drooling, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, lethargy, or difficulty passing stool can be signs that something isn’t right.
A few minutes of fall yard cleanup can prevent an unexpected trip to the vet!
