🎆 Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be frightening for many pets.

If your dog or cat struggles with loud noises, now is the time to prepare. Create a safe, quiet space indoors, make sure ID tags and microchip information are up to date, and talk to your veterinarian about calming options if your pet has a history of noise anxiety.

A little planning can help make holiday celebrations much less stressful for your furry family members. 🐾❤️

😼🌍 Happy Cat World Domination Day 🌍😼

We’ve been informed that today is the official celebration of cats quietly plotting world domination… and honestly, we’re not surprised.

Signs your cat may already be in leadership training:
🐾 They insist on knocking objects off counters for “strategic assessment”
🐾 They sit on your laptop during important meetings
🐾 They wake you up at 3 a.m. for “team briefings” (a.k.a. food demands)
🐾 They act like they don’t know you… until it’s dinner time

Despite their ambitious career goals, we remain fully committed to serving our feline overlords with love, treats, and scratch-approved accommodations. 🐱💙

Long live the cats. Resistance is… optional. 😹

☀️ Summer temperatures can become dangerous for pets faster than many people realize.

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can happen in minutes, especially during walks, outdoor play, or time spent in parked vehicles. Watch for signs like excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse.

Keep pets cool with plenty of fresh water, shade, and outdoor time during the cooler parts of the day. If you suspect your pet is overheating, seek veterinary care immediately.

Stay safe and enjoy the summer! 🐾

🌊🐾 Blue-Green Algae Alert for Austin Pet Owners 🐾🌊

As temperatures rise across Central Texas, blue-green algae can become a serious hazard in local lakes, ponds, and slow-moving waterways.

Blue-green algae (also called cyanobacteria) can produce toxins that are extremely dangerous to pets, even after brief exposure. Dogs are especially at risk because they love to swim, play in the water, and lick their fur afterward.

⚠️ Signs of blue-green algae toxicity may include:
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Excessive drooling
• Weakness or stumbling
• Difficulty breathing
• Seizures
• Collapse

🚫 Avoid letting your pet swim in or drink from water that:
• Contains floating scum, mats, or algae blooms
• Has a strong, fishy or unusual odor
•Is warm or stagnant
•Within 3 days of rain

✅ Bring fresh drinking water for your pet on outings.
✅ Rinse your pet thoroughly with clean water after swimming.
✅ Contact your veterinarian immediately if you suspect exposure.

Many Austin area lakes and waterways can experience algae blooms during the warmer months, so it's important to stay informed before heading out for a day on the water.

A little caution can help keep your pets safe while enjoying the Texas summer! ☀️🐕💙
