Fosters of Peace

Fosters of Peace The fostering journey I started is in memory of my beloved cat, Peace. Here I will be sharing the precious lives of the kitties I am able to help save.

I constantly get reminded why I keep going out to feed at Walgreens. A couple weeks ago I noticed a little black kitten darting across the street after we dropped off food a little later than normal. A couple days later I saw another kitten, I think similar color to Todoroki. I left work a little later than normal this evening and he was already in the feeding spot looking for food when we pulled up. He darted off as soon as I stepped out of the car.

Why do I care so much? Why does my heart continue to ache every time I see a baby on the streets struggling?
Why can't I just turn it off?
I have enough kitties to worry about in my home...
But I do care... I want to scoop that baby up off the streets, get it spayed/neutered and teach it that love from a human can be amazing....

I wonder what life is like not consumed in Rescue and not having a heart for kitties.

Then I think, I don't really care to know that answer because loving cats/kittens makes up the very foundation of who I am.

Yesterday I was trying to decide what this week's photo shoot would be, and the moment I received this very generous donation of food for these precious nuggets, I knew what I wanted to do.

I wanted to take a moment to share my heartfelt gratitude towards the amazing friends I have that follow this crazy foster journey (that we embarked on nine years ago yesterday!)

I would not be able to keep up fostering at the level I do without the continued support and love from those of you who always choose to step up when we need it.

EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I HATE asking for donations, but when it comes to the well-being of the fosters in my care, I have learned to be humble enough to know that their needs is more important than my own pride.

Not all donations may look as big as this one I got yesterday, but EVERY SINGLE ONE IS BIG to me. Every single one touches me beyond belief. It more often than not brings me to tears when I open my front door to see multiple boxes of donated food/supplies.

You don't have to donate for me to appreciate you following our fostering journey,

The ones that do, I truly can't put into words how blessed I feel to know I have people that love these cats/kittens as much as I do.

Thank you will never feel like enough to express my gratitude, but maybe these five sending you a heartfelt thank you, will let you personally see the difference you make in their lives!

Thank you.

I wasn't hoping to post another need of donations so quickly. However I just opened my last case of Fancy Feast wet kitten food, and there are multiple cans so far I can't use because they are damaged (I've received more damaged cans in the last three months then I've probably ever received. I'm guessing it's the drivers because it's been Royal canine, Purnia, fancy feast and even American Journey for my cats. It's been ridiculous.)

Anyway, if you can donate a case or two for my crew I'd greatly, greatly appreciate it.

Another need I have is for flea medicine for my fosters. Even just one pack of six can cover my adult fosters for the coming month which would be such a huge help, especially this month (I had to take our car to the shop last Wednesday and that financially set me back big time).

Link of wishlist in my comments.

As always, thank you so very much, your support truly does mean everything to me. Y'all's support absolutely allows me to keep saving these precious kitty lives. That means the world to me.

Anyone know someone interested in two adult, strong willed, but somewhat sweethearts that can also be insane nutballs?

Wally and Charlie love each other and the other cats in their room. They've been good with Sandy and the kittens if they go in my room (Sandy doesn't put up with anyone's nonsense so she'll put them in their place no problem.)

However, if I decide to open my room up they will become absolute psychos towards my resident cats that don't stand up for themselves. These two are high prey driven cats that love to wrestle rough. If they sense fear from one of my cats they will single them out and attack them (Wally usually goes after Chris the most, and Charlie goes after anyone who doesn't stand up to him.)

The craziest part is that when it comes to me they are absolute mamas boys, and with 'their' cats they are the greatest loves to them. Jackie will smack them into place whenever they act a fool in my room, and they always listen to her.

I would LOVE for them to find a home together to a person who has patience and understanding of strong willed boys like them.
I hate having to keep them, Verna, Jackie and Trip locked up in my room all the time, coming out into the rest of the room would be so good for Trip and Verna, but it's not fair to my crew to be attacked by Charlie and Wally. My residents can sometimes be jerks to each other, in a sibling kind of way, but these two full on attack my cats. Charlie went after Grace this evening and thankfully Sandy sprung to Grace's defence and chased Charlie back into my room, straight into my closet (she's awesome!)

In hindsight part of me wishes I had TNRed them both, but they really are sweet guys, as you can see.
The only other thing I can think to try with them next are effective calming collars and see how that works.

Trip and Verna could benefit so much socializing with everyone else, and having access to the whole house. It made Lightningbug and Denise both so much more social, and Jackie loves leaving my room often too, but always comes back in. Verna and Trip need that too.

I just want them all to find their perfect forever homes, because they deserve it.

I need adopters....

Woke up to Taylor playing in their water fountain. After work this evening I was soaking my feet in this foot bath mom got at goodwill because I hurt my feet at work recently (blisters and such) and Taylor instantly came over to check it out because HE IS A WATER CAT. 😆❣️

Sleeping with five active kittens leads to a lot of kitten shenanigans. Like this morning, Taylor being a typical black and white cat by playing in the water 🤣
And Brady's way of leaving no doubt about being hungry for wet food breakfast, he noms on my fingers.
I love these cuties. All are available for adoption (Taylor and Cattarina won't be ready to leave here until their neuter/spay on September 9th)
