⚠️ HEALTH ALERT | Austin Waterways

Thick mats of blue-green algae — some potentially toxic — have been spotted at Red Bud Isle on Lady Bird Lake and Walsh Boat Landing on Lake Austin.

Keep dogs away from the water. Blue-green algae has been linked to multiple dog deaths in Austin since 2019.

Before you go in:
🚫 Stay out if you see algae, scum, or murky water
🚫 Avoid water for 3 days after rain

If you do enter:
✅ Rinse skin, hair, and pet fur immediately
✅ Don’t let pets lick wet fur
✅ Contact your vet or doctor if sudden illness follows

More algae is expected as temps rise. When in doubt, stay out. 🌊

🐾 It’s no secret that the Allandale Veterinary Clinic family just got a little bigger. We’re excited welcome Dr. Elena Bruce to Allandale Vet Clinic! 🎉

Dr. Bruce earned her veterinary degree from the University of Glasgow in Scotland and is a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) — bringing some international flair to our team! She’s also Fear Free certified, with a special passion for dentistry and neurology, because your pets’ comfort always comes first. When she’s not caring for your furry family members, you might catch her hiking around Austin, painting watercolors, or singing karaoke (we’re told Hugo the cat is her biggest fan 🐱 and ruler of the household).

We’re thrilled to have her here and can’t wait for her to meet you and your pets. Stop by and say hello! 👋
