At Star of Texas Veterinary Hospital, we prefer to use the term ‘companion’ because dogs and cats are no longer considered just pets; they have become a part of our family. The bond between animals and people began centuries ago and has never been stronger than it is today. Our goal is to provide you with the information and resources necessary to keep your companion happy and healthy for as long

as possible. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pet companions; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime. We understand the special role your pet companion plays your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet companion’s healthcare. Make an appointment with us today and ensure the best quality care for your loved one.

Do you remember… the 21st night of September? 🎶

Okay, maybe we’re a little early for that but we DO remember the 4th of September, because it’s !

🪿 Goose: “Do you remember?” How could we forget a guy who loves attention this much? Go give Goose some love!
💗 Play Toh: “My thoughts are with you” and preferably, your attention, too!
🍪 Penny: “Never was a cloudy day” when there are snacks involved.
😴 Sophie: “Now December found the love that we shared in September” but Sophie found a cozy spot for a nap, and that feels just as important.
👯 June: “Our hearts were ringing” with all the excitement of becoming a big sister.
🦴 Benny: “As we danced in the night” … he was probably dancing his way toward the treat jar.
🍖 Gus: “While chasing the clouds away” or perhaps chasing the person carrying the snacks…
🏡 Bambam: “Remember the true love we share today” his love for his family. 🥹

Ba-dee-ya, say, do you remember? We certainly will. 🤎 Welcome to Star of Texas, sweet friends! 🪩🐾

🦷😬 Did you know that dental disease can cause chronic pain in your pet?

By the time you notice symptoms like bad breath and yellow buildup on their teeth, your furry friend may already be experiencing significant discomfort.

Annual dental evaluations as part of your pet’s regular preventive care exam can help detect dental disease early, before it progresses and negatively affects their quality of life.

🍇🐕 Grapevines may be a beautiful addition to your yard, but they can be toxic to your dog.

😕 If ingested, they can cause kidney failure. But don't worry, there's a solution!

👀 Try trimming the budding grapes before they turn into fruit to preserve the aesthetic value of the vines while keeping your furry friend safe.

🌱 As always, it's important to be aware of potential toxins and hazards to keep your pets healthy and happy.

🌱🐶 Keep your furry friends safe by being aware of which plants can be harmful to them.

😕 Elephant's Ear, Begonia, Caladium, Dumb Cane, Philodendron, and Umbrella Tree are examples of plants containing needle-shaped crystals called raphides that can cause irritation, swelling, and difficulty swallowing in pets.

👀 Other plants like Nightshades, Datura, Poppy, Oleander, and Foxglove can also be harmful to pets.

🚫 Be proactive by preventing access to harmful plants and keeping your pets safe and healthy.

🐞🌺 Pets love spending time in the garden, but be aware of potential toxins from insects and other wildlife!👀 Some insects, amphibians, and wild reptiles can have natural toxins that are harmful to pets.

🐍 Bees and wasps are common visitors that can cause pain at the sting site and even an allergic reaction in some pets. If your pet’s face starts to swell after a bee sting, take them to the vet for treatment.

🐶🐱 Protect your pets and enjoy the outdoors by being cautious and prepared.👍
