1. You won’t want to keep every dog and it’s okay to get attached. If you don’t want to foster, just say that. Are you really proud of not having feelings about anything?
2. You’re right! He does look happy here, but if we keep every foster, we can’t keep fostering.
3. Littermate syndrome is VERY REAL. You can absolutely have littermates if you’re willing to put in a lot of work and training to ensure they don’t eventually turn on each other and you, but a rescue or breeder who lets you take two puppies is not a reputable one.
4. There is no such thing as a potty trained 8 week old puppy. Furthermore, even the most well trained foster dog can have accidents in a new environment. If you want perfection, get a stuffed animal.
5. There is no such thing as a truly free dog. All dogs need vaccines, food, shelter, enrichment, and vet care. If you can’t afford the bare minimum of the shelter or adoption fee, get a stuffed animal.
BONUS HORROR MOVIE: the adoption fee is too high, I could get a puppy for that price GIRL NO YOU CAN’T. Rescue adoption fees do NOT make the rescue any money. Rescues have taken the dogs to the vet for vaccines and medical care, had them spayed/neutered, and they definitely don’t make a profit on dogs. If we actually charged what it cost to get the dogs healthy and ready to adopt, you wouldn’t like that either.
