Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

Today we’re celebrating the one-of-a-kind, always-smiling, endlessly positive force that is you, Dr. Robben! Your love for veterinary medicine is matched only by your love for doodles — the four-legged kind and the ones you sneak onto whiteboards and post-its around the clinic. 🐾✏️🐶

You bring humor, heart, and high-quality care into every exam room. Whether you're treating a sick pup, comforting a worried client, or making the entire staff laugh until we cry, your energy is truly contagious (in the best way).

We’re so lucky to work beside someone who lifts up everyone around them — patients, clients, and team members alike. Here’s to many more years of doodle hugs, joyful medicine, and hallway laughter!

Today we celebrate an incredible 4 years with the heart of our front desk — Yoana! From day one, you’ve been a calming voice on the phone, a warm smile to everyone who walks through our doors, and a true champion for every furry, feathered, and scaled friend who visits us. 🐾💛

Your kindness, patience, and ability to juggle a million things with grace never go unnoticed. Whether it's comforting a nervous pet parent, wrangling paperwork, or sneaking in a few extra cuddles for our patients, you do it all with so much care and compassion.

We’re so lucky to have you on our team, and the animals (and humans!) are better for it.

Here’s to more years of teamwork, tail wags, and unforgettable moments. 🎉🐶🐱

Happy Work Anniversary, Caroll and Nova — our fearless leader, spreadsheet wizard, and proud Aussie Shepherd superfan! 🐶📋💙

From managing schedules to managing chaos (often the same thing), Caroll keeps this hospital running like a well-oiled dog park. Her organizational skills? Impeccable. Her snack drawer? Fully stocked. Her phone? 97% photos of her Australian Shepherd… and honestly, we support that.

Whether she’s handling emergencies or humble-bragging about her dog’s latest “trick” (which may or may not just be intense staring), Caroll brings heart, humor, and serious herding energy to everything she does.

Here’s to another year of keeping us in line with the grace of someone who clearly lives with a working breed. 🐾🐕

Today marks another wild year for Dr. Travis, our fearless veterinarian who never flinches—whether it's a lizard with trouble leaping, a parakeet with a strange tweet, or a sugar glider doing aerial acrobatics in the exam room.

From dogs to cats, rabbits to ball pythons, Dr. Travis has seen it all—and treated it all with equal parts expertise and courage.

Thank you for another year of scaling new heights (and scales, literally), feathering our nest with your knowledge, and hopping to the rescue of every critter that crawls, slithers, or squawks through our doors.

Here’s to more tails, talons, and tiny miracles! 🐾💚

Happy Work Anniversary to Arianna, our veterinary tech superstar and full-time servant to her beloved orange cat! 🐈

In between calming anxious pets and moving at lightning speed through every shift, she somehow still finds time to brag about her fuzzy orange roommate, Syke (who, let’s be honest, is probably the real boss around here).

Her heart is as big as her cat’s attitude, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you, Arianna, for another year of dedication, humor, and the occasional giggle in the break room.

Here’s to many more years of paw prints, purrs, and perfectly placed IV catheters. 🐾

Welcome to Splash Smart with Lifeguard Lucy! 🐶💦
Swimming Safety Tips for Dogs in Austin, Texas

Hi, pups and pup parents! I’m Coach Lucy, your expert lifeguard and tail-wagging swim instructor. Before we dive into Austin’s lakes and creeks, let’s go over some doggone important swim safety tips. Ready? Let’s paddle!

❤️ Rule #1: “If It’s Green, It’s Mean!”
Watch out for blue-green algae.
It might look like pond soup, but it can make us super sick—or worse! If the water looks slimy, green, or smells funky, skip it. And always rinse off after a swim!

🧡 Rule #2: “Never Swim Alone, Even If You’ve Got Bones!”
Supervision is key.
No matter how good you think you are at doggy-paddling, always have your human nearby. We can get tired or stuck—especially in fast-moving water or steep banks.

💛 Rule #3: “Jackets Aren’t Just for Humans”
Life jackets save lives.
Even if you’re a strong swimmer like me, a life vest keeps you extra safe in deep or unpredictable water. Plus, it makes you look paws-itively adorable.

💚 Rule #4: “Don’t Drink the Pool!”
Bring fresh water.
Lakes and rivers can have bacteria, and pools? Yuck—chlorine! Make sure your human brings clean drinking water, so you can stay cool and healthy.

💙 Rule #5: “Know When to Call It a Day”
Rest when you're tired.
Panting too much? Ears back? Slowing down in the water? That’s your cue—it’s time for a break, a treat, and a shady nap.

💜 Rule #6: “Vaccines Aren’t Just for Vet Visits”
Protect against waterborne nasties.
Swimming in natural water? Talk to your vet about leptospirosis shots. Trust me—better a poke than a sick day.

Woof wisely, swim safely, and splash on! 🐾

🐾 Puppy Party at the Vet! 🐶🎉

Is it just us… or did the clinic get 1000x cuter? 😍

Nova (13 weeks old) showed up full of wriggly, wiggly, floppy-eared puppy energy for her second checkup — and honestly, our hearts are still recovering. 💖 From curious sniffs at the stethoscope to dramatic side-eyes over vaccines (with extra treats after, of course), Nova handled it like a pro!

✅ Vaccines: Check!
✅ Tail wags: So many.
✅ Belly rubs: Unlimited.

We can't wait to see how much she grows!

📣 GOOD BOY ALERT! 🐶💙

Everyone, meet Hank — an almost 2-year-old Great Dane who’s 105 pounds of pure love and still thinks he’s a lapdog. 😅

At 105 pounds and growing fast, Hank is all legs, paws, and personality! When we told him he needed an X-ray to check on some growing pains, he tilted his head like, “Excuse me… you want me to do what now?”

But with a little gentle encouragement, Hank nailed it. Afterwards he gave us a dramatic sigh, and then immediately cuddled with his favorite dragon toy and took a nap.🐶💤

We’re happy to report he's doing well! We’re obsessed. Can you blame us?
