Meet Louie (22560), the perfect dog for people who secretly want a cat. šŸ¶šŸ±

Louie is a 4-year-old professional house cat disguised as a dog. Found as a stray in March, Louie didnā€™t do well in the shelter environment. He was luckily placed in a foster home soon after his arrival where heā€™s been thriving ever since.šŸ¾

This gentle, easygoing guy is house trained, leash trained, dog friendly, apartment-friendly, and perfectly content to snooze at home while you work a full day. He loves slow walks, couch cuddles, sunbathing, people-watching, belly rubs, and being near his favorite humans. He takes treats incredibly gently, doesnā€™t pull on leash, and prefers a cozy nap over just about anything. šŸ’¤

If youā€™re looking for a gentle, cuddly companion with serious cat energy, Louie might be your guy. šŸ’™šŸ’š

WOW, Austin! šŸ¾

This weekend's Clear the Shelters event was one for the books. Thanks to YOU, 131 pets found their forever homes! That is amazing news.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to adopt, and to our incredible volunteers who made the whole weekend run smoothly. We could not do this without you.

And a special shoutout to our one and only guinea pig, who also found a home this weekend! Every pet deserves a happy ending, big or small.

Meet Sampson! šŸ¾ Heā€™s got no teeth from a treated dental issue, but that doesnā€™t stop him from eating his favorite dry food like a champ.

Sampson is shy and takes some time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he loves a good petting session in his safe spot. He gets along great with other cats and would love a feline buddy to help him feel brave. With a little patience, this sweet guy will turn into the best companion.

Thank Dog itā€™s Foster Friday!

Meet Toby (6199)! This sweet boy came to Austin Animal Services at just 10 months old and spent far too much of his puppy life in a kennel. Luckily, one of his many volunteer friends recently took him in as a foster until he finds his forever home!

Toby is house-trained, crate-trained, affectionate, loyal, and always ready to be near his person. Heā€™s quite the adventure buddy who loves to sniff out new places, but heā€™s just as happy snuggled up on the couch. He even completed his rowdy manners training with our partners at Every Dog Behavior & Training

Toby takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he chooses you, he really chooses you.šŸ„¹ If youā€™re looking for a dog who will be your devoted sidekick and make everyday life feel a little sweeter, Toby might be your guy. šŸ’™Ā

Meet our volunteer and staff pick: Sweet Pea!

This senior girl is everything you could want in a companion: loving, attentive, incredibly house-trained, mannered, smart, and always ready for a cuddle.

What she needs most right now is a soft place to land where she can decompress, feel safe, and begin treatment surrounded by love.

She has an incredible group of people rooting for her, including Orange Dot Crew and Classic Canines. So many people see the wonderful dog she is. We just need to find the person who can give her the home sheā€™s been waiting for.

Come meet her this Saturday during Clear the Shelters! Adoptions are FREE, and it could be the day Sweet Pea finally gets to leave the shelter for good.
