Cricket's Corner: It's Been a While...

Yes, I'm aware.
Apparently some of you have been asking, "Where's Cricket?"
First of all... I'm flattered.

Second... I haven't been missing. I've been busy.
Busy supervising.
Busy judging.
Busy making sure the clinic plants don't get too comfortable.

I've completed 37 surprise inspections, interrupted 14 staff meetings simply by existing, and stared down approximately 126 dogs. Most of them blinked first.

Crystal insists I've been "sleeping."
I prefer the term strategic energy conservation.

To everyone who thought I'd retired...
Please.
A CEO doesn't retire.
She simply allows her employees the illusion of independence.

Meet Dr. Mohan Iyengar!

We are thrilled to introduce Dr. Mohan Iyengar as the newest associate veterinarian joining the Manchaca Village Veterinary Care team!

Dr. Iyengar graduated from Texas A&M University in 2024 and has a special interest in soft tissue surgery. He is passionate about delivering exceptional care and building lasting relationships with pets and their families.

Dr. Iyengar will officially begin seeing patients on August 3rd, and we can't wait for our community to meet him! Be sure to keep an eye on our page—we'll be announcing details for a Meet & Greet Open House soon.

A Healthy Smile Means a Healthier Pet!

Did you know that by age 3, most dogs and cats already have some degree of dental disease?

Bad breath isn't just "dog breath" or "cat breath"—it's often one of the first signs of periodontal disease. Left untreated, dental disease can lead to pain, tooth loss, and bacteria entering the bloodstream, potentially affecting the heart, liver, and kidneys.

Staff: Good morning, Cricket!

Cricket: Is it?

Staff: It's Monday!

Cricket: Exactly.

Staff: Ready to supervise?

Cricket: No.

Staff: Ready to greet patients?

Cricket: Also no.

Staff: Ready to chase dogs?

Cricket: I'm conserving my energy for more important matters.

Staff: Such as?

Cricket: Judging everyone who walks past my bed without petting me... correctly.

Today's schedule includes:
One dramatic sigh every 15 minutes.
Four strategic naps.
Intense eye contact with absolutely no explanation.
Making one Golden Retriever question every life decision.

If anyone needs me, I'll be in my office.

(It's a cardboard box.)

Staff: Cricket... what are you doing?

Cricket: Protecting the clinic.

Staff: From what?

Cricket: That.

Staff: ...That's a toy centipede.

Cricket: That's exactly what it wants you to think.

Staff: You've been swatting it for 20 minutes.

Cricket: Twenty-three.

I've chased it down the hallway.
I've subdued it.
I've thrown it into the air.
I've stared directly into its many imaginary eyes.

It keeps coming back.

I'm beginning to suspect we're dealing with a highly trained operative.

Staff: Or... Crystal keeps throwing it for you.

Cricket: Details.

🪲 While it may look like chaos, play is one of the best ways to keep cats mentally stimulated. Hunting-style toys help satisfy natural instincts, reduce boredom, and keep indoor cats active and happy.

Our hospital will be closed on Friday, July 4, as our team celebrates Independence Day with their friends and family.

Cricket (CEO of Mayhem): Attention, employees. I have an announcement.
Staff: Oh no...

Cricket: I have spent the entire year convincing everyone that I fear absolutely nothing.
Dogs? Intimidated.
Vacuum? Defeated.
Delivery drivers? Closely monitored.

Staff: And...?

Cricket: Whoever invented fireworks... I'd like to file a formal complaint.

Staff: So... they scare you?

Cricket: I did not say scare. I said they're loud, unnecessary, and an attack on my executive peace...Also, if anyone needs me, I'll be conducting very important business under Crystal's bed until approximately July 6.

Staff: Sounds suspiciously like hiding.

Cricket: It's called strategic leadership.

This is Cricket.

Her qualifications include:
• Being exactly where she's not supposed to be
• Demanding attention, then immediately walking away
• Staring dogs into complete uncertainty
• Conducting surprise inspections of all clinic activities
• Having absolutely no respect for personal space or authority

When she's not managing daily chaos at the hospital, Cricket spends her weekends living lavishly with her human, Crystal, and her canine sidekick, Chloe.

The staff may think they run the clinic, but Cricket knows the truth.
