100°F in Austin and your dog still has a 90-minute walk on the books. So how do we do it?

Short answer: we don’t do it the way you’d think.

Our whole team runs on one rule: better safe than sorry. That starts with the clock. We’re out walking dogs across Austin as early as 7am now, before the pavement turns into a skillet. And when a session lands in the middle of the day, we break the time into shorter bursts with cool-down resets in between. Grass instead of asphalt. Shade instead of open sidewalk. Opportunities for AC the entire session and always somewhere cool to go.

For some dogs, the best move is staying right at home: a quick potty break, then back inside for a treat hunt around the living room and a long stretch on the cool floor.
Sometimes it’s a mile of laps through Lowe’s, Petsmart, or Home Depot.
Sometimes it’s a pool party.
Sometimes it’s froyo.
Your dog still gets the full session, the enrichment, the sniffs, the tired-happy nap afterward. They just don’t get heatstroke doing it!
Swipe through to see exactly what a hot-day session looks like.
Questions about your dog’s summer schedule? Send us a message, and we’ll customize your dog’s day exactly how you want!

Existing members, would also love to hear about your dog’s favorite way to stay cool with KWD! 💛
