The Texas heat can turn dangerous faster than most pet parents realize. In honor of National Heat Awareness Day, we wanted to share some important reminders to help keep your pets safe, comfortable, and out of trouble this summer:
💧 Make hydration a priority — always offer fresh, cool water and consider adding ice during peak heat days
🌡️ Adjust routines when temperatures rise — early morning or evening walks are safest, with shorter outings in extreme heat
🐶 Learn the early warning signs of heat stress like excessive panting, drooling, glazed eyes, restlessness, or sudden fatigue
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked car — interior temperatures can become dangerous within minutes
🐾 Protect their paws — pavement can reach burn-level temperatures even when it “doesn’t feel that hot” outside
Small adjustments make a big difference when it comes to preventing heat-related emergencies. Stay safe and keep your pets cool this summer 🤍
