Bonnie, 5.5-year-old Great Pyrenees always checks the perimeter first any time she changes pastures. I love watching her do her guardian thing.
Edit: lol, I did not listen to sound before. That noise is her partner, Brian, drinking from the trough 😂

Brian stays in this pasture 24/7 while Bonnie goes back and forth between the main paddock and the barn paddock where the LGD’s in training and the rams reside. Besides being a terrific guardian and being able to stand up to Brian’s dominant tendencies, she is a wonderful puppy teacher.

Woo-ee! I am tired! This weekend was bunny spa weekend with lots of grooming, some pics and our first round of second half of the year breedings. All does were very lifty (except for the one English I tried 😒 iykyk). It’s almost feeling like old times. The herd has come a long way adjusting to our big move. Angora coats are looking much better and fertility (or at least eagerness) has returned.

Bunny photo dump.

The sheep and one goat saw the bucket (which I left back at the gate when I started out across the pasture to free the other goat stuck in the fence) and they have EXPECTATIONS!!! 😂

I am so happy because I got the mineral buffet feeders put up today. I am trying out the Little Avalon Farm mineral buffet. These are goat minerals but work for sheep, too, as they self regulate intake. Now I can relax about having the sheep and goats together and feeding only sheep feed. The goats can still get their copper. Minerals are also important for wool and hair growth. I look forward to seeing how this works on that aspect as well as overall health.

How cool! I got a little tri satin angora. I think it is a doe. Her mama and I love her so much!

HOT Donna gave us one perfect kit in the middle of the summer. She is an excellent mom and if there were ever a time of year to be a single, this would be the time. Donna was bred on a whim. She was lifty and grumpy and showing signs she wanted a date. So, I tossed her in with my brindle project buck, Dawson, and here we are. My suspicion is that a combination of Donna getting older and the heat affecting buck fertility led to this tiny litter. As chance would have it, the little one looks to have possibly hit the perfect potential gene combo that could come for me from this pairing: eje. It’s exciting to bring in more of my show line genetics into my brindle project.

Please say a prayers for little ones. They are tiny, innocent, and vulnerable.

There is another new little one on the farm, too, a Great Pyrenees pup out of Mesta Meadows’ Princess and Marshall two absolutely amazing LGDs. I couldn’t help myself. His name is Li’l Puddin’. Yeah, once he is bigger that may change 😅

The angoras are shaved and sitting under the fans and ac but the satins still get to show. My white satins ladies were not impressed but I am proud to show them in our first fair show.

It was fun watching the families and their children showing off their projects. I also spent time having a conversation with the (literal) turkeys and a chicken. A couple of batam roos kept mouthing off but I did not talk to them. They really just like to hear the sound of their own voice 🙄🤣

As the only open 6-class exhibitor, it is no surprise that my girls got blues but my junior doe got some particularly enthusiastic remarks. I am very proud of her but also her mama who having recently come off her second litter can still put on a good show.

The goaties came out of quarantine and have been turned out onto the pasture. I don’t think they mind. They were getting bored where they were lol
