Your dog’s ears smell. The question is which kind of smell.

A faint, waxy odor is normal. But musty, ye**ty, or outright foul is a different story — and so is any smell strong enough to notice from across the room.

Watch for: dark discharge, head shaking, or scratching at the ears. Any of those means a vet visit, not a home cleaning.

Your dog's paws smell like Fritos. Here's why.

It's caused by naturally occurring bacteria and yeast that live on your dog's skin. Their paws sweat, things get warm and damp, and the result is that very specific corn chip smell. For most dogs, it's completely normal.

The signs that it's not normal: redness between the toes, constant licking, or a smell that's gotten noticeably stronger. Those are worth a vet visit.

Spring has sprung. So has approximately half your dog’s coat.

It’s shedding season. Your couch already knows.

Spring in Austin means dogs are blowing their coats, and it is a lot. Our self-serve wash stations are a great place to start — you do the scrubbing, we supply everything else.

If you’re heading down to our Guadalupe location on Sunday… don’t.

Because the Austin Marathon route runs right down Guadalupe in front of our shop, the surrounding roads will be closed most of the day.

Two of our neighbors ( and ) are official cheering spots, so our parking lot is expected to be packed. Rather than make everyone fight for a space, we’ve decided to close the Guadalupe shop for the day.

Our South Lamar and Mesa locations will be open 10–6 as usual.
