Today we remember sweet Vegas — a beloved soul whose love, loyalty, and gentle spirit brought so much joy to everyone lucky enough to know him. Whether it was a wagging tail, a comforting cuddle, or simply his presence, Vegas had a way of making every day a little brighter.

The time we get with our pets is never long enough, but the memories they leave behind last forever. His story, his love, and the happiness he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

✨🐾 A Little Bear Spaw Care Update 🐾✨

To my wonderful clients, friends, and supporters,

Due to personal reasons, I will be temporarily pausing Little Bear Spaw Care services. While I won’t be scheduling appointments for the time being, I want everyone to know that I am still available by phone and happy to answer calls, questions, and help however I can.

This was not an easy decision, but I believe it’s the right one for me at this time. I am incredibly grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me and for allowing me to be a part of your pets’ lives.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. Little Bear Spaw Care has always been built on relationships, and those relationships mean the world to me.

Some appointments just feel a little extra special 🐾✨

Today I got to spend time with one of my favorite clients… the sweetest soul with the gentlest heart. I absolutely love going to her home—it’s peaceful, full of love, and always feels like a little reset in the middle of my day.

And today? Peacocks. 🦚
Yes… actual peacocks just casually walking around like they belong there (because they do 😂).

Moments like this remind me why I do what I do… and honestly, how lucky I am to be trusted with these spaces, these pets, and these people. 🤍

It’s not just grooming—it’s connection, trust, and little glimpses of beauty in everyday life.

Sometimes our furry companions try to tell us they feel unsettled without making a single sound. Recognizing these quiet cues helps deepen the bond we share with them every day.

1. Watch for whale eye, where the white of the eye is visible in a half-moon shape, often signaling unease or fear.
2. Observe if they start licking their muzzle repeatedly, as this repetitive motion frequently points to rising anxiety.
3. Notice if they begin pacing back and forth, which usually reveals an inability to find a comfortable or safe spot to settle down.
4. Pay attention to sudden hypervigilance, where they seem frozen and hyper-focused on their surroundings instead of their usual playful self.

Learning these subtle signals allows us to adjust our environment to help our dogs regain their sense of calm. Spending a few minutes each day simply observing their body language builds immense trust.

Many of America’s 85 veterinary behaviorists are booked months in advance. Several whom Horowitch spoke with said that the number of people seeking pet mental-health care has exploded in the past few years. But there is no consensus as to why. One theory is that dogs today are more anxious. More Americans are choosing to adopt pets, which saves lives but can leave traumatized pets with inexperienced owners. We’ve also altered the way pets live in ways that may make them anxious or aggressive toward people and other dogs. But it could also be that anxious adults are projecting their own issues onto their furry companions. What people classify as a behavioral issue reflects human expectations as much as a dog’s nature, according to a bioethicist. ⁠

“So is the dog-anxiety crisis real, or is it a product of owners’ anxiety-riddled psyches? Dogs can’t tell us how they’re feeling, so we’ll probably never know,” Horowitch continues. “But both explanations are depressing. Either humans are stressing dogs out so much that they truly need prescription meds, or owners are putting their dogs on unnecessary psychoactive drugs to address annoying but normal dog habits. It might be time, in other words, to reevaluate the way we approach dog ownership. ⁠
