Hello Aurora Pet owners!
This is Batman. Batman was a bad boy and ran away from home while his mom was away. BUT Batman was also wearing a city license tag. So Batman Never went to the pound, he went home!
Please make sure your pets are as cool as Batman. Bring your proof of rabies vaccination up to the Police Dept and the ladies up front will be Happy to get your pet a cool tag too. (It's also city ordinance)
You can get a one year or a three year tag depending on how long the vaccination is good for. A one year tag is $3 per year for an altered pet and $5 a year for an unaltered pet.
And then your pet can be cool like him!

Rabies is Fatal!
There are more and more reports lately. Please, take the time, make it a point, put it on your To Do list...Get Your Pets and Livestock vaccinated!

A bat recently discovered in a Kirkwood home has tested positive for rabies. The St. Louis County Department of Public Health reports it's the first bat to test positive for rabies in St. Louis County in 2026.

Please get your animals vaccinated against rabies! Reports are getting closer to our area. Rabies IS Preventable!

Not only are rabies vaccinations city ordinance, it is State law in most US States.
We are going to have to be more diligent in enforcing our rabies ordinance in Aurora. Get them vaccinated, bring a copy to the PD and get a city license, also a city ordinance. None of this is expensive to take care of. Rabies is incurable but Preventable. Its approx. 45.00 total and worth it.

Woehl says if you see an animal that is potentially showing signs, you can alert the health department either online or by calling them.
