🎆 Fireworks season is here! 🎆
While many people look forward to fireworks displays, our dogs often experience them very differently. The loud, unpredictable noises can be frightening and stressful, even for dogs who seem confident the rest of the year.
Here are a few ways you can help your dog stay comfortable:
🐾 Exercise earlier in the day to help them relax.
🐾 Keep dogs indoors before fireworks begin.
🐾 Close windows and curtains to reduce noise and flashes.
🐾 Play calming music, white noise, or the TV.
🐾 Provide a safe space where your dog can retreat if they feel anxious.
🐾 Make sure ID tags and microchip information are up to date.
Most importantly, remember that fear is an emotion, not a behavior problem. If your dog seeks comfort from you, it's okay to provide reassurance and support.
If your dog struggles with fireworks, don't wait until next year to start working on it. Training and desensitization can help many dogs feel more comfortable around loud noises over time.
