This is the kind of nonsense I expect to see in Yellowstone. 😂

Imagine putting on a bison costume and chasing tourists around…

and then having to explain that decision to park rangers.

Honestly, I respect the commitment.

Terrible idea.

But strong commitment.

Also, somewhere there was definitely a tourist thinking:

“Wow, that bison looks weird.”

Contrary to popular belief, snakes do not strike out of aggression. They aren't actively hunting humans

They are scared and use offense as their defense

You leave them alone, 99.99% of the time, they’ll leave you alone

Chihuahuas though....I'm convinced those ankle biters are out for blood 😂

It ain't pretty

It's not brand new

But it's exactly what I needed

And I got it for a steal

I'm happy I got a display chest freezer for the frozen rodents I plan to sell

I want to provide as much variety of sizes of mice, rats and rabbits as possible

I'll see how well the demand is for chicks and other frozen feeders are too

Another small win that adds up

Business update:

I got the final corrections back from the architect.

Now I’m waiting on quotes from the HVAC company.

Once I have that locked in, I can finally submit everything for permits and hopefully things start moving a lot faster from there.

This whole process has been a lot of waiting, revising, emailing, and waiting some more…

But I’m finally getting to the point where the next steps actually lead toward opening.

Hopefully everything falls into place smoothly from here.

Fingers crossed.

Built the dubia roach rack today.

Of course I had to keep the red and black Doc X theme going. 😄

The dubia tubs are black with more limited ventilation since they like it darker and don’t need nearly as much airflow as crickets.

The cricket rack is built too, but I used clear totes and a lot more ventilation because crickets are just nastier tenants.

I’m actually really happy with how both setups turned out though.

They save a ton of space and should make feeding, cleaning, and keeping everything organized a lot easier.

One more little piece of the store coming together.

Another little business win today:

I bought the retail counter. 😄

I’m actually pretty excited about it.

What I’m NOT excited about is putting it together.

If anyone has ever seen me attempt an IKEA dresser drawer…

Please keep your comments to yourself.

There may be leftover screws.

There may be swearing.

There may be a point where I stare at the instructions like they personally betrayed me.

But hey — once it’s together, that’s one more piece of Doc X Pet Shop officially in place.

And I saved a boatload of money by picking it up myself, just had to risk my sanity by driving near O'Hare airport 👀

I have $3.

Not literally.

But emotionally?

Absolutely.

Opening a business is basically watching large amounts of money disappear while telling yourself:

“This is an investment.”

Over and over.

Very calmly.

While sweating.

But every purchase gets Doc X Pet Shop one step closer to opening.

So I guess we keep going. 😂

Reptile people watching My Strange Addiction like:

“Wow… some people really do have a problem.”

Meanwhile there are 14 enclosures in the room, three more animals on the wish list, feeder insects in the closet, and a cart full of reptile supplies waiting to be checked out.

But no.

Definitely not addicted.

This is called a hobby.

A very expensive, enclosure-filled, feeder-buying, “I have room for one more” hobby.

Totally different. 😂

How many reptiles did you have before you realized this hobby had gotten completely out of hand?
