Feeling 🔥 HOT HOT HOT!🔥 As you all know this week is going to be incredibly hot, with temps hitting around the high 90s mid-week! Plus, where this summer has been a warm one, we wanted to remind you all of some heat safety tips to help keep your pets cool, comfy, and healthy! 😎 Feel free to review, save or share the following charts and tips:

🚗 DO NOT leave your pets in the car! Even for "just a few minutes" - temps soar quickly and you car becomes a glorified oven on warm days. Even if you have the windows cracked, even if you park in the shade. If you have your pet with you, consider delaying that errand. Or, leave Fido at home when you go out in town

🛣️ Concrete, asphalt, and even sand can get real hot on warm days! Hold your hand against the surface in question for 5-7 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for them! If you must traverse hot surfaces, consider using dog booties to protect paws, or make a detour to stay on grass or cooler areas.

👟 While exercise is important for a healthy lifestyle, on hot days let your pet lie low and forgo the activity (or take your walks early morning/later evening when it's cooler). This is especially important for long/double coated, older, and/or short-faced pets as they can overheat much quicker

🫗 Make sure to leave out plenty of water to hydrate with, and areas to cool down!

🥵 If you suspect heat exhaustion or heat stroke, call your veterinarian or an emergency clinic ASAP! You may be instructed to start cooling the pet down with cool or tepid (NOT ICY/COLD!) water, asked about symptoms/presentation, or advised to come in immediately. Heat stroke is life-threatening so if you are even suspicious, give a call!

🐈 On that note, cats and other pets CAN get heatstroke too, so make sure to keep an eye on ALL our furry friends in this weather!

Stay safe, and stay cool! ❤️‍🔥😎🧊
