🚨 **OKAY, AUGUSTA! HELP US FIND JAKE FROM STATE FARM!** 🚨

Jake is a handsome gray tabby who went missing from his home on Saturday, October 17, 2026. His mom and dad tried desperately to catch him as he made his way through four different yards, but he eventually managed to evade them.

Now, his family is very worried and needs our help bringing him home! ❤️

**Here’s how to identify Jake:**
- 🐾 Beautiful gray tabby
- 🐾 Microchipped
- 🐾 Has a notch in one ear

If you spot Jake, please approach him cautiously and help spread the word! If he is found, you can bring him to **Highland Animal Hospital**, where we can scan his microchip and help reunite him with his worried family.

Please share this post to help Jake find his way home. Every share and set of eyes makes a difference!

Thank you, Augusta, for always looking out for our furry friends! ❤️🐾

🐾❤️ October 18–24 is National Veterinary Technician Week! ❤️🐾

This week, we proudly celebrate the incredible veterinary technicians at Highland Animal Hospital—the skilled hands, compassionate hearts, and calming voices behind so much of the care our patients receive.

Veterinary technicians do far more than most people realize. They comfort frightened pets, monitor anesthesia, collect laboratory samples, provide nursing care, take radiographs, educate pet owners, assist during emergencies, and offer love and reassurance during some of life’s most emotional moments.

Their knowledge, dedication, strength, and compassion make an immeasurable difference every single day. We are incredibly grateful for our Highland team! 🐶🐱🐰💕

Would you like to help us celebrate them? Anyone may donate or send a message of appreciation to our team! Cards, handwritten notes, snacks, meals, treats, gift cards, or other thoughtful surprises are always appreciated. Local businesses are also welcome to participate!

Donations and messages may be delivered or mailed to:

🌎🍎 October 16 is World Food Day! 🍎🌎

This year’s theme, “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow,” reminds us that the choices and actions we take today can help create a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come.

Access to nutritious food matters for every family—including the beloved animals who share our homes. ❤️🐾

You can make a difference by:

🥫 Donating food to a local community pantry
🐶 Giving unopened pet food to an animal shelter or rescue
🌱 Supporting local farmers and sustainable food programs
♻️ Planning meals carefully and reducing food waste
🤝 Helping a neighbor or family experiencing food insecurity

When communities work together, small acts of kindness can help nourish people, protect animals, and build a brighter tomorrow.

🌎🐾 October 15 is International ShakeOut Day! 🐾🌎

When the ground starts shaking, knowing what to do can help protect you and your furry family members.

Remember the three important steps:

🔴 DROP to your hands and knees.
🟡 COVER your head and neck beneath a sturdy table or desk.
🔵 HOLD ON until the shaking stops.

Do not forget to include your pets in your emergency plans! Keep carriers and leashes easy to reach, make sure identification and microchip information are current, and prepare an emergency kit containing food, water, medications, medical records, and comfort items.

A little preparation today can make a frightening situation safer for the entire family—two-legged and four-legged alike. ❤️

🐾 October 14 is Pet Obesity Awareness Day! 🐾

A few extra pounds may look harmless, but maintaining a healthy weight can make a big difference in your pet’s comfort, mobility, energy, and overall health. ❤️

Helping your pet stay fit does not have to be complicated:

🥣 Measure meals instead of estimating
🦴 Be mindful of treats and table scraps
🎾 Make walks and playtime part of the daily routine
⚖️ Schedule regular weight and body-condition checks
👩‍⚕️ Ask your veterinarian for a plan designed specifically for your pet

Every pet is different, so weight-loss plans should never be one-size-fits-all. If you are unsure whether your pet is at a healthy weight, call Highland Animal Hospital to schedule an appointment. Together, we can help your furry family member enjoy a healthier, happier life!

🐕🍂 October 1–7 is National Walk Your Dog Week! 🍂🐕

Grab the leash, lace up your shoes, and let those tails lead the way! Daily walks provide exercise, mental stimulation, bonding time, and plenty of opportunities to sniff the neighborhood news. 🐾

Make each walk safe and enjoyable:

🦮 Use a secure leash or properly fitted harness
💧 Bring water for longer adventures
🌡️ Check the weather and pavement temperature
🐕 Let your dog set a comfortable pace
💩 Always bring waste bags

We want to see your walking buddies! Share a picture from your adventure in the comments and tell us your dog’s favorite place to explore. ❤️

Leash up. Step out. Wag more!

🐾 October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! 🐾

Somewhere in a shelter, there is a dog waiting for the moment someone looks into their eyes and says, “You’re coming home with me.” ❤️

Shelter dogs come in every size, shape, age, and personality. Some are goofy, some are cuddly, and some may need a little extra time to learn that they are finally safe—but every one of them deserves love, patience, and a family to call their own.

This October, consider visiting a local shelter or rescue. You may walk in hoping to save a life and discover that a special dog was waiting to change yours. 🏡🐶

Already have a shelter dog? Share their photo and adoption story in the comments—we would love to celebrate your rescued best friend!

Adopt. Foster. Volunteer. Donate. Share.
Every act of kindness gives a shelter dog another reason to wag their tail. 🐕💕
