If you want a dog who can keep herself entertained, Destiny is your girl!

Destiny has mastered the art of throwing her own toy and then chasing after it. She loves when a human tosses it for her, but she's perfectly happy entertaining herself too!

Destiny has been at the shelter since late June, and we honestly can't understand why she's still here. The only thing we can think of is her coat color.

Black dogs, especially black Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes, are often overlooked in shelters due to "Black Dog Syndrome" and negative breed stereotypes. But Destiny is so much more than the color of her coat or what breed you think she might be. She's a playful, fun-loving girl who deserves a chance!

Destiny is heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. She's ready for her forever home!

Here comes the Jaeger-bomb!

Meet Jaeger, a 2 year old Lab/Hound mix with a big personality and plenty of energy to share!

Jaeger has lots of get-up-and-go and is always ready for his next adventure, but he has also shown us that he knows how to settle down and relax. He hasn't shown much interest in toys during his time here, but he does appear to be food motivated, which can be a great way to keep his mind busy and help with training.

Shelter life can be stressful, and we know Jaeger would love the chance to get out of the kennel and into a home where he can decompress, learn, and really show his personality. With a little patience, consistency, and a whole lot of love, Jaeger could make a wonderful companion.

Jaeger is already neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccines. He is ready to find his forever family!

Meet Estrella — she’s still waiting for her second chance.

Estrella was adopted from AAS in mid-February, but through no fault of her own, she was returned a little over a month ago. Since then, she’s been patiently waiting for someone to choose her again.

Just under a year old, Estrella is listed as a Pit Mix, though we suspect she may have some Boxer in her. She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and ready for a family of her own.

Adoption fee: $75

Another day, another return... again.

Toodleloo is back at the shelter for a third time. After being adopted out during Home for the Holidays last December, she was then adopted out in June again. She got bigger than her new family was expecting and started to knock over the children in the home. The family informed us that with her energy level they think that she should go home with children at least 10 years old.

Toodleloo does have a lot of energy! A regular exercise routine would help with that however! We believe she has some German Shepherd in her which would make her a working breed dog who needs enrichment. One 15 minute walk a day will not do for her.

Toodleloo is believed to be less than a year old, spayed, Heartworm negative and microchipped.

91 DAYS AND COUNTING!

Pumpkin has been waiting 91 days for someone to choose him, and honestly, we don't know why.

Pumpkin is a handsome, 50 lb brindle Pit Bull mix with a playful personality and a whole lot of love to give.

When Pumpkin first gets out of his kennel, he is ready to RUN! He will spend the first few minutes zooming around the play yard, enjoying his freedom. At that point, you might as well not exist, unless you pull out a toy! A good game of fetch or some playtime is the perfect way to help him burn off some of that extra energy.

Once Pumpkin gets those zoomies out, you will see his softer side. This sweet boy turns into a total love bug, rolling over and soaking up belly rubs.

Pumpkin is heartworm negative, neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and microchipped. He is ready to leave the shelter and start his next chapter with a family of his own.

Pumpkin deserves a family who will give him the love, patience, exercise, and care he needs. He has been waiting long enough. Could you be the person who finally gives him his forever home?

AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF)- These high summer temperatures are just too hot for many to handle. They pose a health risk to people, and if they are dangerous for us, they’re dangerous for our pets too…

With the high temperatures this week, Augusta Animal Services will not be taking large breeds for spay/neuter services. Instead, they’ll be focusing on the animals who can safely fit inside the cab of the box truck, which means CATS!

Because of the additional number of cats going to be spayed/neutered tomorrow, today’s Save-A-Pet Monday special is $10 cats!
