This boy has been putting in the work.
We’ve been focusing on smoother, more relaxed transitions — both up and down — and building a trot that feels balanced instead of tight. Remy tends to hold tension in his under-neck muscles, so it’s taken time, patience, and a massage to help him find a more level top-line.

But today? His trot was the smoothest it’s been yet, and I felt comfortable sitting to it. Real progress. 🙌

Off the training rides, Remy’s been a total star for Eleanor too — calm and steady through groundwork warm-ups and cool-downs, with ground tying skills that are honestly top notch.

For a 2-year-old with such an old soul, I couldn’t be prouder of how far he’s come.
And a huge shoutout to his family — their support and involvement through this whole process has made all the difference. 💛.

🐴 A Little Introduction!

We are blessed to have so many dedicated followers, and we're excited to see so many new faces joining us lately — so we wanted to take a moment to properly introduce ourselves!

I'm Krista Johnson, and I specialize in c**t starting, foundation training, and problem solving. Please don't ask me what "discipline" I do — horsemanship applies to any and every discipline. Good foundations carry a horse everywhere. We LOVE seeing horses and riders become better partners.

We also offer consignment sales. Every consignment horse comes into full-time training with us, because every horse can benefit from it in some way. A horse that's legged up and learning new skills is simply more likely to find the right home — and we love playing matchmaker to connect each horse with their next person to love them.

We've been located in Augusta, MI for almost a year now, and we love it here! We're blessed to work with and out of Vigue Equine LLC at the Battle Creek Hunt facility — such a beautiful, peaceful place, full of equine professionals who genuinely support one another. We're also grateful to have Sarah Balkema and her expertise out here with us too.

Our facility offers a large indoor arena, two large outdoor arenas, a cross country course, and trails on site.

It's been a blessing to stay busy with monthly training horses and to welcome so many new horses and new faces to our barn! Our monthly training includes lessons so you can learn right along with your horse and become part of the family.

We also offer haul-in lessons and travel training/lessons when our schedule allows.

We’re excited to welcome this handsome guy into our barn for training and consignment! I love his unique eyes 😊

Bandit is a 13-14 year old grade gaited Spotted Saddle Horse gelding, standing at 15.1H.

Here’s what I do know about him:
- Great feet manners — picks them up like a pro
- Trail riding experience
- Smooth ride
- Up to date on vaccinations and Coggins

Welcome to the barn, Clever! 🐴 This 8-year-old Thoroughbred mare is joining us for August training — ready to level up her groundwork and riding skills. Can’t wait to get to know this girl! 💛

We’re so excited to introduce Nigel, a handsome 4-year-old Dales Pony gelding who’s joined us for August training!
Nigel already comes with some driving experience under his belt, and we’ve spent several travel training sessions with him and his owner before he arrived — so he’s off to a great start as he begins his journey under saddle. 🎯

Fun fact: Dales Ponies are considered a threatened/critical breed, making Nigel not just a wonderful pony, but part of a rare and special heritage breed! 🌟

We can’t wait to watch him grow and learn this month. Follow along for updates on his progress!

We’re so excited to welcome Holly for August training! This sweet 3-year-old OTTB mare just came off the track and is ready to start her exciting new journey as a riding horse with her new owner.

Fun fact: Holly is a half sister to Remy, who’s been training with us for a few months already — looks like great talent runs in the family! 🏇

A huge thank you to Vigue Equine for bringing Holly and Remy to us and recommending us for their training. We’re grateful for the recommendation and can’t wait to help Holly transition into her new career.

This rare find found her person, Sue, before we could even officially list her! They clicked pretty well during lessons, and Pearl went home ready to be part of a great team.
We just heard they had an amazing first offsite trail ride with friends — couldn’t be happier for these two! 🌳💕

As July comes to a close, I’m saying goodbye to several horses heading home and getting ready to welcome new ones in for August. 🐴

People often ask how I do this — how I can pour myself into a horse for weeks or months and then let them go. I understand exactly why they ask. It never gets easy. But it is bittersweet, in the best way.

My hope for every horse I’ve worked with, and every one I’ll work with in the future, is simple: that they leave with new skills and new confidence. That they understand what’s expected of them at feeding time, on the lead line, during handling, under saddle. That they feel secure and content in their responsibilities. Horses who are easy to handle and a joy to be around are horses who find good homes and keep them — for life. That matters so much to me.

I also hope I’ve given their owners the tools to communicate better with their horses, so they can keep moving toward their goals with confidence and peace.

I don’t take this responsibility lightly. Being a trainer and mentor feels like my calling, and I feel truly blessed to do it. Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their horses — and thank you for every single update you send me. Watching these horses grow through your texts and posts genuinely makes my heart so full.

If horses teach us anything, it’s this: they bring people together, and they teach us to live in the present moment. 🤍

Ride #3 in the books 📖✨ And WOW, Joleigh — you continue to impress me every single time we saddle up.

So glad Micayla got to watch this one in person 🥹 There’s nothing like seeing your girl’s hard work pay off with your own eyes.

Less than 30 days in and this mare has learned so many new things. The progress? Unreal. The confidence? Growing. The way she carries herself under saddle? Lovely👌

This is why I love what I do. 🐴💛
