This trio is Buster (hound), Baby( black and white), and Rascal (cat). Their mom and dad had a big day trip planned so I went and hung out with them for a couple of hours for some company and potty breaks. We pretty much just relaxed and watched the game show network 😄

This handsome guy is Cooper. When his mom and dad go out of town, they ask if I can take him to their neighborhood dog park to play with his friends. Today, he was way more interested in smelling everything else 😂

Here are a couple of other cats I am looking after. The white one is Yeti and he is 25 pounds!! The other one is Chowder and it had taken me days to get him to come out of hiding to let me pet him. When he started to walk toward me, I didnt want to move or breathe. But, he hung around for more cuddles so I think we are good friends now 🥰

I've been checking on Kitty for the last week while her mom is out of town. Kitty can be very shy so its always a gamble if I see her or not. I have been taking care of her and her doggy sister for about 6 years now and she still has her reservations about me. But, she is very sweet and I always feel special when she does make an appearance

This loveable boy is Tank. I walk him twice a day Monday through Friday. But, because it has been so hot lately; for our afternoon visit, we have started doing some puzzle games instead. We started with a twisted towel and muffin tin game. He caught onto those very quickly. So, I moved onto a snuffle mat and a puzzle toy I had at home for my dog. Again, he figured them out within one visit too quickly. So, I bought two new puzzles. One that has three tubes suspended in the air that you have to flip upside down to get the treats out. This one he is still working out the logistics and the other one is this orange one. It is a 4 level puzzle where you have to start at the top and work each level to "unlock" the next level. This one has really stumped him and we are working very hard to learn the correct way to work it out. Puzzle toys are a great way to stimulate your dog when physical exercise is not possible. Just 10 minutes of something like this that really makes them work something out is equal to about a 30 minute walk.

Know the signs and what to do

Its been so hot lately so walks have been a little challenging. So, we have been doing some fun stimulating games and activities instead. I had to get a video of Tank with the muffin tin game. So, I put treats in some of the holes and place tennis balls on top. He then has to figure out where they are by removing the tennis balls somehow. He figured this game out really quickly but it makes me laugh how he bumps the balls out

Another brutal day out there. Temperature reading at 100°. Remember that with a temperature like that, that the sidewalks and pavements can reach temperatures of 120° degrees plus. Walks with your furry friends should be extremely limited! Before going on a walk, put the back of your hand on the pavement or sidewalk. (Or go out barefoot) If you can't leave it there comfortably for 10 seconds without it burning you, then same goes for your pup. The dangers of burnt paw pads are very real and painful

I think sometimes that the hardest parts of my job is the extreme summer weather, or gas prices, or keeping up with the paperwork side of things. But, without a doubt, the hardest thing is saying goodbye to the dogs and cats I get to see everyday. They become part of my family and I grow to love them so much. I found out yesterday that my oldest doggy client, Berkley, is crossing the Rainbow Bridge this evening. Her owners hired me right when I started my new business venture and I have been there now through 3 pups passing. And, it hasn't gotten any easier. But, Berkley has the sweetest soul and it was so difficult for me to leave on my last visit with her and her siblings today. My heart goes out to her owners during this time and I know she has a loving brother and sister waiting on the other side of the bridge for her 🌈💗
