We are proud to announce our new trainer Ann Simon!
Ann grew up in Bellingham, Washington on her parent’s small farm. Her father a retired farrier of 30+ years and mother a life-long horsewomen, Ann has been riding horses since before she can remember. She competed through her young life in as many different events as she could from Western and English pleasure to reining, rodeo drill and barrel racing/gaming with whatever horse she was able to at the time. She also learned to start colts at the age of 14. She began working with a local reining trainer as a teen and fell in love with the training, discipline and mentality it took to train those horses. After high school, Ann moved to Orange County, CA. She started working at the Anaheim Hills Saddle Club in 2009 teaching western and therapeutic lessons (PATH Int'l Certified) and training horses. During that time she received a degree in Business Management while also studying under reining trainers throughout Southern California.
In 2015, Ann and her husband Matt moved north to Fairfield, CA. Ann spent the next six years working for and learning from leading reining, cowhorse and cutting trainers as well as traveling to work with multiple training legends in Northern CA. She also continued to train, teach and compete in reining and cowhorse events and futurities. In 2019, in addition to competing in the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity limited open division, Ann also competed in the Wild Spayed Filly Futurity. This was a televised reined cow competition where competitors were supposed to have 12 months to train their wild mustang and return to compete in their own division. Ann’s young mustang Sienna did very well only having 4 ½ months of riding on her at the time of the competition after her first filly was deemed unsound for the competition.
Last year, Ann and her husband Matt decided to accept a job opportunity in Western Washington, back toward their roots and closer to family in Auburn, WA.
Recently, Ann and her crew found a barn home at Green Valley Stable. Ann plans to continue teaching, training, showing and learning from other equine professionals.
Ann is available for training and lessons at Green Valley Stable!
