If you haven't heard yet, Ronan 🐕 was diagnosed with a soft tissue neoplasm sarcoma tumor, aka cancerous mass on his right hind leg. 🙁
After running the gamut of test, screenings and lab results, our vet has concluded that the mass has not seemed to spread, yet. 🎉 It still seems contained to his little chicken leg. 🦵However, the mass needs to be dealt with asap so it does not spread.
We have a consultation with an oncologist specialist at the end of May to determine the best options for Ronan.🩺 Some of the current possibilities are are amputation, mass removal surgery plus radiation treatment, or de-massing the tumor paired with another type of cancer treatment. 🥼📃🩺
It is scary to be considering these options for my furbaby, it is even more terrifying the price points for any of these treatment options. 😔

This last two weeks have been emotional.😩 We have been on what feels like a rollercoaster. 💔
Nearly two weeks ago we found a mass on Ronan's hind leg. It didn't seem to bother him, however, it was the size of a large meatball which was alarming. 🙁
At first we thought it was a cyst, so we gave it a few days. However, it did not change. 🙁
After a vet appointment, and some lab tests, it came back a soft tissue neoplasm (sarcoma) tumor. 😩💔
😔
I am crushed.
Ronan is so much more than a pet in our family.
He is my personal ESA puppers. 🥰He is there for me during anxiety attacks, when I am feeling down, and is always following around the house being mama's little helper.🚶🏼‍♀️🐕
🙁
The diagnosis led to more tests and vet visits.🩺 Thankfully, Ronan is an awkward ham at vet offices and made all the testing easy for the vet. 🐾

Yesterday, we got the great news that the cancer has not spread to his lungs, which was a concern of our vet. His blood work came back perfect. 🎉
Now we have consultation scheduled with a cancer specialist to go over everything and provide some suggestions on next steps.

All in all, we know that the cancerous mass has to go we are just unsure at the moment which route will be best for Ronan and our family to pursue. Either way, we know each option we have been posed with is expensive. 😖

Ronan is off to the vet this morning.🐕 He is tentatively scheduled for radiology scans of his lungs, pre-surgery blood work, and a paw-dicure.
Depending on the xray results we may have to put him under for an ultrasound of his abdomen. Hopefully, with all this we will know if the cancer is just localized to his leg.
🐾 Paws crossed. 🐾
We will also find out the recommendation of how to surgically remove the tumor. Current recommendations are full amputation of the leg.
We have all our paws, toes, and fingers crossed for some good news. 🤞🏼🐾

We went fabric shopping the other day for our summer collection. Our team has wonderful narrowed down the few embroidery designs that we want to play around with on bandanas. Now is the time to practice with the designs before making samples.
❤️Thank you for all the love and positive vibes that have been pouring in for Ronan and his mass.
Times are emotionally hard, 💔 he was the first furbaby we added to make our family. He has been certified as an ESA for years for me. 🐕
He goes in tomorrow (Friday) to be put under for all the scans that he will need to tell if the cancer is elsewhere in his body, and to prepare a plan for surgery. 😢When we know more Friday evening, I'll share any updates along the way. We are looking into opening a fundraiser to help cover some of his medical costs. Normally, we have a pet emergency fund, but with Kahlua's UTIs and bladder surgery over the last two years that fund has had disappeared. 💔

This past week has been hard. 😫We happily celebrated Kahlua’s 15ish birthday, 🥳but also had health concerns pop up with Ronan.
We found a meatball sized mass on his leg. 🙁We think it grew within the span of about 3 weeks.
After lab tests and two vet visits, it has been confirmed as a soft tissue neoplasm tumor / sarcoma. 😔The location of the growth is problematic, it is on his Achilles heel. Therefore, there is a high probability that if we try to just remove the mass it will damage that tendon. 😫Which means we are possibly looking at amputation. ☹️
Before we can do any surgery, he has to get radiology done to check his lungs (normally this type of cancer starts there and spreads), an ultrasound on his abdomen, and blood work. All of this will happen on Friday.
So hopefully we get some good news and it is only in his leg. 🤞We are definitely concerned about the cost of all this, we normally have a pet emergency fund but with Kahlua’s ongoing UTIs and bladder surgery last year and this year, we never got to refill that fund. But we will do whatever we need to, to make sure he is taken care of. 💜
I guess what I am saying is, if you could send some positive vibes our way, I would greatly appreciate that.🥰
