Nassau County should be ashamed of themselves! Our founder Casey Jones came to them over a year ago & told them that they were killing baby sea turtle hatchling because of there out of date Light Pollution/ Sea Turtle Lighting Ordinance... 14 months later they still have the worst ST Lighting Ordinance on the east coast of Florida! May 1st was the start of Sea Tàurtle season sooo... How many will be killed this Sea Turtle season of 2024. What can u do to help protect our majestic Sea Turtles that call our beautiful island there home, you ask?

May 1st was the start of Sea Turtle season! Why is Light Pollution still sooo bad in Jax Beach, you ask? We really don't get it either...
Lord please help all of these precious baby Sea turtles not die by sending them the wrong. Jax Beach needs to do better! Smh

Always a beautiful beach sunrise & very happy moment but sadly this is still happening & unfortunately will continue to happen. We (us humans) need to do better! More than likely... the power of plastic did this majestic sea turtle in.
For the Love of GOD... don't bring plastic bags to the beach with u & throw your trash away! When at the beach help our Sea Turtles out by picking up other people's trash. Only leave footprints when leaving the beach PLEASE! It should be a team effort people.

Why do Momma Sea Turtles cry when making their nest?
We associate crying with egg laying because that’s the only time they come ashore in our area... But they cry in the Ocean as well. The tears also help flush sand from their eyes when nesting.
Sea Turtles are Reptiles & have less efficient kidneys than mammals & they can’t produce urine with a higher salt concentration than the Ocean water they drink. To avoid poisoning themselves with salt buildup... Sea Turtles have a gland in each eye that actively pumps salt ions into their tears. They need to run these glands continuously to maintain the correct balance of salt in their bodies.
Remember if you're ever lucky enough to see a nesting Sea Turtle on the beach... Never shine a white light on them & stay back 25 feet away please

For the love of GOD people... Fill in your sandcastle HOLES before leaving the beach!
They couldn't see the Sea Turtle until we leaned over the hole & saw she was at the bottom & about 4 feet down. Her quick heavy breathing scared us. We called for help but dropped down in the giant hole & started digging a ramp. As they built up the ramp, the Sea Turtle seemed to have no fear of them & turned toward them & started to climb the ramp as they dug her out & she went to the Ocean. Bless her Heart... Unfortunately she did not nest.
We love Sea Turtles but I have to say if any of us fell in that hole we could have easily broken a leg or worse. We don't understand why this is still happening.
