A single “meow” can mean… almost anything...

“Feed me.”
“Hello.”
“Where have you been?”
“Watch me do this.”
“The bottom of my bowl is visible.”
“I would like attention immediately.”
“Do not perceive me.”
"Wake up."
"Pet me."
"Don't pet me."
"Pay attention to me."
"Not like that."

You get the picture... 😹

Cats use different tones, lengths, and volumes of meows to communicate with the humans they trust, and the more time you spend with them, the more fluent you become in their very specific language.

Around Atlanta, we spend a lot of time decoding tiny furry customer service complaints and affectionate announcements, and they never get old! 💙

When a cat shows you their belly, it usually means one very important thing: trust.

The belly is one of a cat’s most vulnerable areas, so exposing it can be a sign they feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable around you.

That said… it’s not always an invitation for belly rubs. Many cats simply want to lounge dramatically while admiring them from a respectful distance.

As Atlanta's most experienced professional cat sitters, we’ve learned that understanding cat communication is all about appreciating the difference between trust and “touch at your own risk.” 😄
