That’s them helping you find the perfect scratch zone. Cats and dogs will often reposition themselves to guide our hands toward areas that feel especially soothing or enjoyable, like the chest, cheeks, shoulders, or base of the tail. (See Arnie: Exhibit A)

Honestly, it’s a pretty solid communication system: “Right there. Yes. That's the spot.” 😄
