🐷✨ Meet Love! 💕 Not my typical client… but we groom everybody over here! 😂

Love is a mini pot-bellied pig, and while pigs may seem pretty low-maintenance, they still have grooming needs! Their skin can become dry and flaky, their hooves require routine care, and YES… they shed! Regular bathing and brushing can help remove dirt, dead skin and loose hair.

For Love’s groom, her owner specifically wanted her hair cut down, so I reached for my Andis Vida cordless clipper. ✂️ The Vida is lightweight, easy to maneuver, and the 5-in-1 adjustable blade gave me the control and versatility I needed to comfortably work around her body.

Grooming an animal you don’t work with every day also requires patience. Pigs are extremely intelligent, but grooming can be unfamiliar to them, so we worked calmly and at Love’s pace. 🐽🛁

What made this groom even more special is that Love belongs to one of my childhood friends. ❤️ There’s something so beautiful about reconnecting when you’re grown and seeing how far everyone has come. Watching people you grew up with become successful, accomplished adults and build lives of their own is really a full-circle feeling.

We grew up together… and now I’m grooming your pig. 😂 Life is funny and beautiful like that. 🐷💕

My beautiful mistakes…. It is what it is..

I have something to share that I’m honestly not proud of… but accountability is part of responsible pet ownership.

If you know me, you know I’ve been VERY vocal about irresponsible breeding, especially intentionally breeding mixed breeds simply because they’re trendy or marketable.

So imagine me having to tell y’all I now have a litter of Standard Poodle × Afghan Hound puppies. 😩😂

My 9-year-old Standard Poodle has only had one litter, through artificial insemination. She’s lived with my intact male Standard Poodle for her whole life, even through heat cycles, and they never successfully bred. I genuinely assumed she couldn’t conceive naturally. I jokingly called her “The Virgin Mary.” 😂

About 3 years ago, I rescued an intact male Afghan Hound. Unlike my Poodles, I separated them during heat cycles…until one day I let them outside together just to use the bathroom.

Within FIVE MINUTES, I heard a yelp and ran outside. I didn’t see them connected, so I hoped I caught it in time.

Clearly…I did not. 😂 Mama was pregnant!

Yes, it was an accident but preventing that accident was still MY responsibility. I knew better, made an assumption, and that was irresponsible.

I’m sharing this because responsible pet ownership isn’t just about loving your animals. Sometimes it means admitting when YOU messed up and doing better.

My Afghan has since been rehomed with a wonderful groomer not too far away, where he is loved and doing great. ❤️ And my babies will be getting fixed. LESSON LEARNED!

Most importantly, PLEASE spay & neuter your pets when appropriate. Shelters and rescues are overflowing, and far too many animals already need loving homes.

If you have intact males and females, don’t assume they’re too old, they’ve never bred before, or “it’s only five minutes.”

Apparently, five minutes is PLENTY. 😩😂

These unexpected babies are here, healthy, beautiful and VERY loved. My responsibility now is making sure each one goes to a safe, loving, responsible home.

No excuses. Just accountability, a lesson learned & some unexpected little blessings. 🐾❤️
