The hot dog Days of Summer are upon us. Read it again. It doesn't have anything to do with food. So your long hair dachshund is going to be miserable out in this heat. I keep fans in my outdoor dog areas and blow them directly on their food to discourage flies. Something else to consider is that if your dog begins to p*e or p**p in the house, you have a multifaceted problem. The first thing to do is either put the dog in a kennel for a period of time and only let them out supervised or put them outside (in a fenced area, because dachshunds will follow their noses on a rabbit trail and be gone, and while their ability to find their way back home is amazing, being stolen, injured or run over by a car is a very real possibility). Dachshunds are smart. If my dogs start p*eing and/or p**ping in the house, I put them all outside for a day or two and then let one or two back in at a time, and I often find that that's all I have to do to solve the problem. They literally learn, uh-oh, mom put us out so maybe we'd better stop hiding and p**ping under the dining room table. Male dogs under certain circumstances can get into marking/p*eing and so I only keep one male stud dog on the property and I diaper him frequently. If you have two male dogs but no females, you're probably okay but we could refer to some of my dog buyers who might chime in here on that.

Cora is living a great life just one hour south of us; she is one of Ruth and Boaz's puppies, and is a mother herself now. She got her looks from her daddy! Boaz's mini me

Rusty is the lone puppy at our house these days. Is he destined to be your newest family member?

03/19/2026

Rusty is the big boy of Ruth and Boaz's January 2026 litter. He's quite the lover doggie and is very happy here, and is ready for a family of his own. So if you want to have a video visit with Rusty, call Bret at 678-570-2195. A long hair dachshund, Rusty has a red coat that is beginning to show a little bit of black shading. He has the brown nose and will be what is currently called a tweenie, which is a miniature dachshund who grows a little bigger than the show dog miniature parameters. I do not believe he will be a full size dachshund, but I'm just making a guess at his mature size. He's currently a little over 5 lb., projected to be between 14 and 16 lb., more or less, at maturity, so still a small dog in the canine world.
